Exit Advisory Group was at the (COSBOA) COSBOA National Small Business Summit in Sydney today, alongside the associations, policymakers and owners shaping small business in Australia. Our Managing Director, Simon Bedard, was there as National Chair of the Australian Institute of Business Brokers.
Good to hear the NSW Small Business Minister, Janelle Saffin, back more than 1 million business owners across the state, with a push to cut red tape and help local businesses tender for more than $40 billion in government spending.
There was plenty more across the day. Economists put productivity at a 60-year low and made the case that tax reform is long overdue, and there was real debate about how to regulate AI without holding it back. All of it feeds into what a business is worth, and the conditions an owner will face when they come to sell.
For Simon, the Summit is a chance to push the issue we care most about at Exit Advisory Group: helping owners get ready for the day they step away or sell, so the business they built doesn’t close for want of a buyer. Exit readiness, succession and acquisition finance are where our work sits.
And this is just day one. More from Simon and the team tomorrow.
