Interpretation Strategy or Plans
An Interpretation Strategy provides policies, strategies and detailed advice for the interpretation of a building, place or site.
It identifies key themes, storylines and audiences, and provide recommendations about interpretation devices. It includes information about how best to implement identified strategies through integration into the proposed building, place or site. It is based on research and analysis, with the main aim being to communicate the significance of the heritage item to a variety of audiences through a number of different methods.
Heritage interpretation is an integral part of the conservation and management of heritage items and is relevant to other aspects of environmental and cultural management and policy.
Heritage interpretation provides opportunities to stimulate ideas and debate about Australian life and values, and the meaning of our history, culture and the environment.
