So incredibly proud of the team for winning GOLD at the 2022 Australian Workplace Giving Awards for Best Pro-Bono/Volunteering.

Volunteering plays such a crucial role in supporting the community and it's part of our DNA at which probably explains why more than 40% of Origin employees volunteer. That's an impressive figure when compared to the national corporate volunteering rate of just 15%.

Most people are blissfully unaware that in our very own resources-rich country, there are currently 500,000 Australians without safe and reliable access to electricity. This primarily effects remote Indigenous communities, where streets after dusk are completely dark and homes will frequently go without power for days at a time.

My incredible colleagues SolarBuddy.org and Origin Energy Foundation however, are not.

The team recently visited the Torres Strait and installed solar lighting at Tagai State Secondary College's multi purpose centre as part of the Illuminating Communities Initiative. They also rolled out their STEM program with students across a number of islands.
