18 months can be a long time in construction.

We reviewed a subcontract recently for a project that had a risk of running well past that.

No escalation clause.

If the job dragged on — rising costs were on the subcontractor.
So we pushed it.

Got a percentage escalation added if the programme extends beyond 18 months due to delays

This risk allocation could be the difference being $20k in the red or $20k ahead

This is particularly the case this year with the newly introduced Public Holiday on the 27th for Anzac Day in NSW.
