Without pressure, there are no diamonds. ✨

Back in April, Business NSW NE NW invited our Business Exchange Pilot participants to attend the Future Leaders Bootcamp alongside Chief Maker's Greg Layton. We had the privilege of bringing 14 emerging leaders together in Tamworth. The energy in the room was incredible — leaders from diverse sectors, all committed to unlocking their potential and strengthening their leadership performance.

What struck us most? The practical tools. Participants walked away with frameworks they could apply to their work immediately, this bootcamp delivered real, applicable insights.

Here's what one participant shared: "The content was practical, relevant, and something I was able to apply back into my work immediately upon returning. The sections I found most valuable were stakeholder influence, particularly the concept that trust is currency, and analysing performance. It was a highly worthwhile workshop, and I look forward to participating again in the future."

This is what leadership development looks like when it's grounded in real-world application. When we invest in our people, we strengthen our entire region.

Most community engagement fails before it starts. 🌿

Not because of bad intentions. Because the process skips the most important step: genuine listening.

After 30 years working across regional NSW, I've seen well-funded projects fall flat. Not from lack of resources. From lack of relationship.

Here's what actually works:

✔ Listen before you plan
✔ Co-design with community, not for them
✔ Close the loop. Always feed back what you heard
✔ Follow through. Every. Single. Time.

Community trust is earned slowly and lost quickly. The organisations that get this right don't treat engagement as a checkbox. They treat it as the work itself.

If your team is heading into a community engagement process and you want to get it right from the start, let's yarn.

Drop a comment or send us a message. We'd love to help. 💙

BUSINESS EXCHANGE PILOT PROGRAM TAMWORTH

Knowledge Circle 4 with was an absolute highlight! 💙

We gathered at the in Tamworth to yarn about government procurement and policy settings. from NSW Treasury shared practical insights on the Aboriginal Procurement Policy, Regional and SME Policy, and faster payment terms.

Our participants left with clearer pathways and a better understanding of how to navigate government procurement and influence policies that affect their businesses.

The rain came, but it didn't stop us. That's the energy we bring to this work.

"I really didn't want to come today because I find procurement boring, but I am so glad I came. Hollie was great and I learnt so much that I can take back and try to use in my business."

Big thanks to Hollie and NSW Treasury for showing up and sharing their knowledge. And huge thanks to —an Aboriginal-owned business that kept us fueled with a delicious breakfast.

Special thanks to and from UoN for the tour and making us feel so welcome. This is what partnership looks like.

Next up: Knowledge Circle 5 – Business Ecosystems Bootcamp on 19 May with and .
