🎄 Christmas 2026 Gas Connection Cut-Off Dates

Christmas is fast approaching! To help ensure your gas connections are completed before the break, please take note of the following cut-off dates.

📍 VICTORIA

Gas Line — 14 October 2026
Applications must be submitted by this date, with the upfront fee paid within 2 business days.

Gas Meters
• AusNet — 9 December 2026
• Multinet & APA — Submit once the gas line is installed. Business as usual, excluding public holidays.

Domestic Shipper / Quote Requests — 25 September 2026
Complete applications and supporting documents must be submitted by this date for distributor assessment before Christmas.

📍 NSW — Gas Line & Gas Meter: 9 October 2026
Applications must be submitted with site-ready photos by this date. Where costs or conditions apply, quotation acceptance and invoice payment must be received within 2 business days.

📍 SA — Gas Meter: Business as usual*

📍 QLD — Gas Line: 14 October 2026 | Gas Meter: Business as usual*

⚠️ Applications received after the relevant cut-off date cannot be guaranteed for installation before Christmas and may be completed in the New Year.

Electricity cut-off dates will be advised separately once confirmed.

*Gas meters submitted once the gas line is installed, excluding public holidays.

*UPDATED 📢 Victorian Residential Gas Line Charges Update – Effective 1 July 2026

Please be aware that Residential Gas Line Charges are changing from 1 July 2026.

New charges (incl. GST):
AGN: $2,458.50 (up from $2,372.70)
**AusNet: $2,294.60 (up from $2,156.00)
Multinet: $3,032.70 (up from $2,926.00)

Commercial Gas applications will continue to be quoted as per the standard process.

If you’re planning a new build or gas connection, these updated charges may impact your project costs.

Massive shoutout to the APT Energy Solutions team who took on the Run for the Kids over the weekend, pushing through every kilometre for something bigger than themselves.

Victoria’s gas changes – what you need to know 🔥

• Existing homes can keep using gas for cooking & heating, and replace appliances at end of life
• Class 8 commercial buildings can still connect to gas

From 1 Jan 2027:
➡️ New homes & most new commercial builds must be all-electric
➡️ Existing commercial buildings can’t connect to gas (Class 8 exempt)

From 1 Mar 2027:
➡️ Gas hot water systems in existing homes must be replaced with electric at end of life

✅ Exemptions apply where electric isn’t practical (space, power limits, warranties, pilot lights, compliance issues, etc.)

⚠️ Important: All permits must be submitted & approved by 31 Dec; otherwise, builds will need to go all-electric.

Submit early to avoid delays.
