Last week our primary age classes put their finishing touches on their silhouette sunsets. Each child and created their own silhouette and painted it with black paint. They then chose sunset colours and practiced their new blending skills with oil pastels. They were very proud of the finished pieces and how bright and colourful they were.

Our primary classes had fun the other week creating collage mosaic animals. They chose an animal they liked and got stuck into drawing them. They then chose a variety of colours that contrasted but also worked together to create their collage pieces with. They they glued together their animals and finished it off with watercolour background. Some students explored adding watercolour to their creature to give it texture and depth.

Last week the high school class was a hive of activity as everyone was busy finishing off their “A Layered world” collages. Students had learned about the rule of thirds and its importance in creating an interesting artwork and were challenged to create a focal point to draw the viewers eye to a point of interest. It was fantastic to see the wide range of ways they interpreted the prompt within the collage.

Our final class for therm 3 our primary aged class learned about the art element of colour and learned about complementary colours. After painting colour wheel they drew a fish of their choice and experimented with watercolours and complementary colours within their paintings. They had loads of fun and the their fish looks so colourful!
