Its been a while since Ive introduced myself and I have a few people who have jumped on the fairy page so thought and updated photo of my 40 year old self is appropriate

Im Gabe - The Business Fairy
I have been owning operating managing juggling small businesses for close to 20 years (WOW)

I started the journey into this consultancy gig alongside my own biz that I manage with my husband Mid West Pest and Watering | Forbes NSW about 6 years ago

I am a small business specialist- I am a thoughtful leader - I have a creative mind for looking at small business strategy and I am particularly passionate about supporting small business owners and managers in their leadership and communication
I love business planning
I love numbers
I love opportunities
I love learning
I love talking
And I love evolving as a human and watching others do the same

I am a mum to five
I live in Forbes in the Central West of NSW (not near the beach)

And Im currently working on a new package where you can HIRE me for a day - pretty pumped about this one ☝️ spots will be very limited

I am so grateful to every person who follows me, likes my content shares my stuff or learns something here as well - BTW its not all biz stuff but its bloody great

Every business owner - (including I) well and truly have felt that there aren't enough hours in the day

Well to be honest - as business owners we don't need more hours, we need more structure.

You need a business that tells your time where to go.

Too many business owners spend their day:
❌ Putting out fires.
❌ Answering every phone call.
❌ Chasing paperwork.
❌ Doing jobs someone else can do

Then they wonder why cash flow is tight.
It's important to understand that cash flow isn't just about sales.
It's about focus.
Businesses with structure know exactly what matters every day.

✅ Following up outstanding invoices.
✅ Quoting work quickly.
✅ Scheduling profitable jobs first.
✅ Watching the bank balance and forecasting ahead - weekly cashflow forecasting is a game changer
✅ Knowing the numbers before they become a problem.

Structure removes the guesswork.

It stops you being busy... and starts you being productive.

Because every hour spent on the wrong task is an hour, you're not improving your cash flow.

The most successful businesses aren't run by the hardest workers.

They're run by the people who consistently work on the highest-value activities.

My advice to you don't chase more time, build better structures.

Running a small business can sometimes feel like this:

Your staff member is sick.
Your supplier is late.
The weather ruins your schedule.
Three customers want things done yesterday.
Your phone won’t stop ringing.
And the one job you actually planned to finish today… still isn’t done.

At this point most small business owners start trying to control everything.

Which is about as effective as yelling at the weather or negotiating with a cockroach.

Here’s today’s sprinkle of Business Fairy wisdom:

You can’t control everything.
But you can control a few really important things.

✨ Your effort
✨ Your attitude
✨ Your plan for the day
✨ How you treat your customers
✨ How you solve the next problem in front of you

The rest?

Let it go....

Trying to control everything will make you stressed, tired, and possibly talking to yourself in the car

Successful business owners aren’t the ones with perfect days.

They’re the ones who keep showing up, keep solving problems, and keep moving forward one controllable step at a time.

So take a breath.

Focus on what you can control today…
…and let the rest go before you start arguing with the printer again.

After nearly 14 years of running a business together, Brad and I have learnt a very important lesson:

👉 Have clear job descriptions… or prepare for battle.

For years we have both been trying to do to much, not communicating well and having no clear direction, which has meant neither of us was doing anything together very well.

Our job roles were basically a big grey blob.

We stepped on each other’s toes so often it was basically a workplace dance routine—just without the rhythm.

And because we both “knew everything”, we weren’t exactly celebrating each other’s strengths.
(Shocking, I know.)

Fast-forward to 2025 and things look VERY different.

We finally figured out who’s good at what, who should stay away from what, and who needs coffee before discussing anything remotely important.
Now we actually respect each other’s lanes—and it shows.

By understanding each other’s strengths (and weaknesses… and pet peeves)… we’ve been able to grow our business with intention, lead our team with heart, and reduce the number of unnecessary arguments by approximately 437%.

Working with your partner isn’t easy—
but when you figure out how to do it well, it’s honestly one of the most powerful things you can build together. ❤️

💫 Being a mum in business with Family — What's it like💫

Honestly… it’s different for everyone. There’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to balancing business and family life.

Some days, the balance feels effortless. Other days, it’s chaos — and that’s okay. My biggest piece of advice? Always prioritise QUALITY.

Whether it’s quality work or quality parenting, that matters so much more than quantity.
Being a business owner or a parent all the time doesn’t mean you’re getting it right — it just means you’re busy.

But when you show up with intention, even if it’s just for an hour a day — when you give your full self to your work, your family, or your kids in that moment — that’s what leaves the biggest impact. 🌿

So here’s your reminder:
You don’t have to do it all.
Just do it with purpose. 💛
