That first big thing you saved for?

For me, it was a $200 pair of running shoes in high school.

It took weeks of washing dishes at the café to get there.

And honestly? It taught me more than just saving.
It taught me patience.

It taught me effort.

And it showed me that wanting something and working for it are two very different things.

This quote made me stop and think.

Because it is so true.

Income doesn’t reflect effort.
Or heart.
Or skill.

Some of the most talented, hardworking people I know aren’t the highest paid.

And that’s why I teach kids to focus on more than just the money.

💡 We can show them that earning is about effort.

That value isn’t always measured in dollars.
And that their worth is never tied to a pay cheque.

Getting a job is a great way to teach effort and reward.

It shows kids the value of consistency and sticking with it.

It builds confidence through learning something new… and learning that it’s ok not to be perfect at the start.

That first job gave me more than money. It showed me what earning really means.

And that’s something kids need to feel too.
