Here's one that trips up a lot of trade and clinic sites: they write like a brochure instead of an expert. AI Overviews and ChatGPT are pulling answers from content that reads like a real person with real experience wrote it, not generic filler.
Think about it this way. "We offer quality plumbing services" tells an AI nothing useful. "After twenty years fixing burst pipes in Sydney's older terrace houses, here's what actually causes them" gives it something specific to quote. Same goes for your About page. If it's just a logo and a mission statement, you're invisible. If it names the actual person, their qualifications, and how long they've been doing the work, that's the credibility signal these systems are looking for.
Go through your top five service pages this week and ask yourself, would a stranger reading this know I've actually done this work, or could any competitor have copy pasted it? If the answer's the second one, that page probably isn't getting picked up.
