“Kaitaia on Fire” is an initiative spawned by Peta Wilkinson (of Better is Best) and classmates from the Class of 1993. Kaitaia on Fire is a multi-media experiential workshop about facing challenges, building resilience, embracing possibility and taking action. It's about;
- learning from Kaitaia's own role models, people who have experienced knockbacks and achieved success, making these people
more accessible (as Kaitaia is represented globally, nationally and locally) and learning their 'how'
- celebrating the talent proudly produced from Kaitaia (and it's surrounding regions)
- forming a bridge between those in the community and those who wish to support it though havn't had the means to do so
- thanking the community
- and having some fun (using music, videos, live Q&A, activities)! The first workshops role models include:
- Jayson Norris - musician, songwriter and producer (London)
- Wynne Pirini - online product strategist (Wellington)
- Toni-Melanie Wi - nurse (Kaitaia)
- Peta Wilkinson - career and leadership coach (Melbourne)
A vast range of Kaitaia alumni are also available, via social media, to answer career and leadership questions post the workshops to the students. The Workshops are being delivered to the students of Kaitaia College on Wednesday 13 and Thurs 14 of February 2013. The facebook.com/groups/betterisbestkaitaiaonfire/ group is a community for current students to ask any career and leadership question to past students, who will do their best to answer! Current Students:
Thank you to those who are brave enough to ask. It takes more courage to learn from the answer. AND even more courage to act on what you learn. The learning is in the doing. Once you learn it and do it, please teach it to someone else. Past Students:
Your experience is of significant value! Thank you for giving your time, energy and wisdom. Peta Wilkinson
