The biggest shift coming out of the Mumbrella Travel Marketing Summit and Awards was clear: travel marketing is moving beyond being easy to find. Brands now need to be easy to choose, by both people and AI.

Search behaviour is changing quickly. Trust is being built across more touchpoints, and the lines between media, content and creators are disappearing. For marketers and media buyers, visibility now has to work across paid media, organic discovery and creator influence as one connected strategy.

A few takeaways that stood out for GRG:

• Travel content needs to work for human attention and AI discovery. Clearer answers, stronger structure and genuinely useful content will matter just as much as traditional keyword strategy.
• Search is increasingly shaped by summaries, recommendations and direct answers. Brands need to be easy for AI platforms to understand, trust and surface.
• Creators are becoming an important part of the decision journey, not just an awareness channel. They help build credibility and make brands feel more relevant and real.
• Media performance needs a broader lens. If discovery happens before someone reaches a search result, clicks alone will not tell the full story.
• Creative, content and media need to work together. Consistency across touchpoints will become increasingly important as audiences move between platforms, creators, search and AI-led discovery.

For GRG, this reinforces how the role of a media agency is evolving. It is no longer just about where to buy media or how efficiently it can be bought. It is about helping brands show up in the places where decisions are being shaped.
The strongest travel brands over the next few years will not simply be the loudest. They will be the ones audiences trust, creators want to support and AI can confidently recommend.

GRG is one of the first Australian media agencies to start ChatGPT advertising, and the early lesson is pretty simple. This is not Search with a fresh coat of paint. ChatGPT ads show up earlier, when people are still working out what they want, what matters, and who they trust.

7 things advertisers should know about ChatGPT Ads

ChatGPT Ads are now live across 9 markets and growing, including Australia.
For advertisers, this is not just another placement to add to the media plan. It introduces a different way to think about intent, relevance and how brands appear during active decision-making moments.

Here are 7 things worth knowing:

1. It is built around conversations, not just keywords
ChatGPT Ads use conversational context, intent and thematic signals to help connect ads with relevant discussions.

2. Context hints matter
Instead of relying purely on exact search terms, advertisers can use broader thematic signals to align campaigns with the types of conversations that matter most to their audience.

3. Creative needs to be specific and useful
The strongest ads are benefit-led, relevant to the conversation and designed to offer a clear next step, rather than relying on generic brand slogans.

4. Ads appear separately from the organic answer
Sponsored placements are clearly identified and sit outside the response itself, helping preserve trust in the experience.

5. It creates a new high-intent media environment
Users are often researching, comparing, planning or trying to solve a problem. That creates opportunities to reach people while they are actively considering what to do next.

6. Measurement is already built into the platform
Advertisers can track impressions, clicks, spend, CTR, CPC, CPM and conversions, with additional measurement available through UTMs, the OpenAI Pixel and Conversions API.

7. Early movers have a learning advantage
The biggest opportunity right now is not just media delivery. It is learning which conversations, messages and value propositions resonate before conversational advertising becomes a more established part of the media mix.

At GRG, we have been approved for OpenAI Ads Manager Beta and can now build and launch ChatGPT Ads campaigns for clients.

For brands already investing in Search, Social and performance media, this is a channel worth understanding now.

Live across 9 markets. Growing fast. And opening up a completely new way to reach audiences.

Some conferences focus on trends. Others bring the sector back to what matters most.

At the IEAA Marketing & Recruitment Forum in Adelaide, GRG CEO Bosco Anthony joined an outstanding panel exploring the science of conversion in international education. But beyond performance, platforms and policy change, one theme stood out clearly: the student must remain at the centre.

Behind every enquiry is a person navigating uncertainty. Behind every application is a family investing hope. Behind every enrolment is trust being placed in an institution, a country and a future.

As international education continues to evolve, technology will play an increasingly important role in how institutions attract, engage and support students. But technology should never replace empathy. AI, automation and predictive intelligence can reduce friction and improve experience, but they cannot replace human trust, reassurance and connection.

Thank you to IEAA for creating space for thoughtful, necessary conversations, and to Bosco’s fellow panellists Sarah Todd, Chris Strods and Chamalee Karunanayake. Bosco's co-presenter, Madhumita Thiagarajan, facilitated the session brilliantly with intelligence, warmth and grace, while also showcasing the strong collaboration between GRG and the University of Wollongong. Thanks as well to Ashley Tanks, Rebecca Bendall and Sue Ng for your support and contribution to such a valuable discussion.

If the sector protects the stakeholder who matters most, and the people who support them, the future of international education will always be worth believing in.

AI doesn’t fix bad leadership. It exposes it.

In the newly launched Infinite Leadership Series by Elements 4 Success, hosted by Kylee Leota, Bosco Anthony shares a direct perspective on AI, workplace culture, quiet quitting, resilience and the future of work.

This conversation is not about hype. It is about the real questions leaders need to ask now:
• Is technology improving leadership or revealing where it is broken?
• Are we building culture through connection, trust and empowerment or hiding behind perks?
• Are we preparing people for the future or hoping change slows down?

If you lead people, build teams or shape strategy, this conversation is worth your time.
