💡With 30 June fast approaching and another BAS quarter coming to an end, now is a great time to understand what may be included in your BAS bill.
One of the most common questions I get from business owners is:
"Why is my BAS bill so much?"
Many people assume their BAS only consists of GST, however it can also include:
• GST (Goods & Services Tax) – GST collected from customers, less GST paid on business expenses.
• PAYG Withholding (PAYGW) – Tax withheld from employee wages and paid to the ATO.
• PAYG Instalments (PAYGI) – Prepayments towards your income tax that may be included on your BAS.
This is why the amount owing on your BAS can sometimes be much higher than the GST you've collected during the quarter.
The good news is there are ways to plan ahead and set aside funds each week so you're prepared when your BAS falls due and can avoid any unexpected surprises.
