Hey Everyone, this weeks profile is all about Whitney Phillis. Please take the time to read her incredible and courage's story, absolutely inspirational...

From strength to strength, a story of grit, heart, and unstoppable belief 💫
Whitney’s journey is one that truly defines what it means to be an enterprising, shining woman.
From humble beginnings in Port Augusta, raising her daughter Zara as a single mother, Whitney built her life on resilience, love, and determination. With no shortcuts and no guarantees, she carried responsibility from a young age and never allowed it to define her limits. She pursued Accounting at the University of South Australia, began her career within an accounting firm, and went on to manage a medical centre each step laying the foundation for the driven, capable woman she is today.
Life shifted when she met Sonny Phillis. Soon after, expecting their son Jett, Whitney made a bold decision, uplifting her entire life and career, leaving familiarity behind to move to Whyalla and build a future together. It wasn’t just a move… it was a leap.
After maternity leave, she stepped back into her full-time career in real estate in a completely new town, with no network and no safety net. What followed was nothing short of remarkable. Through sheer work ethic and heart, Whitney quickly rose to become one of Whyalla’s top-performing real estate agents.

Her achievements speak volumes:

• High Performing Premiere Agent – 2021–2025 (four consecutive years)

• Individual Top 5 Client’s Choice Award – 2022

• Rate My Agent City Winner – 2024

• Rate My Agent Whyalla Winner – 2025

• Rate My Agent Whyalla Playford Winner – 2026

• Rate My Agent Top 5 Agent – 2026

• Silver Award for High Performing Sales – Harcourts Group

But behind the success, there was a battle few saw.

While building her career and raising a young family, Whitney was simultaneously fighting an unknown neurological condition, travelling constantly to Adelaide for answers, enduring scans, tests, and uncertainty. During this time, she also experienced the heartbreak of miscarriage… a loss that would shake anyone to their core.

Yet, she kept going.

Through pain, through doubt, through exhaustion, she kept showing up.

And then came another blessing, their beautiful daughter, Swai Ocea Phillis, now two years old. A reminder that even in life’s hardest seasons, hope still finds a way.

With a stable career and strong income, most would have stayed comfortable. Whitney chose differently.

She chose risk.

She chose vision.

She chose to chase a lifelong dream of owning her own business, putting everything on the line, including life savings and investments, to make it happen.

Within just six months, she has built a thriving team of five, soon to be six, including her husband Sonny, who stepped away from a secure, established career to stand beside her in business and in life. Together, they’ve created not just a company, but a movement backed by a growing property portfolio they own, and major milestones including owning their own interstate investments, a beachfront shack, and their family home.

And through it all…

Whitney is still Mum.

A devoted mother of three, juggling netball, dance, gymnastics, school performances, soccer, football, and motocross. Always present. Always giving.

She is a loving, supportive wife.

A pillar for her friends.

A contributor to her community.

From sponsoring local football clubs, motocross rider Josh Tilbrook, gymnastics programs, athletics events, to supporting the Whyalla Show, Whitney continues to give back to the very community she helped build.

This is more than success.

This is resilience.

This is courage.

This is legacy.

Whitney is proof that no matter where you start, no matter the setbacks, you can rebuild, rise, and create something extraordinary.

A true example of an enterprising, shining woman ✨

Hi Everyone, another great story from Whyalla and a person making an impact on our town and forging business in her own right. Well done Stephanie...

Arca Building Inspections

I came to Whyalla as a 19-year-old when I secured a traineeship at the Whyalla News, intending to stay just 3 years and then move on to bigger and better things. Fast forward 23 years and I’m still here and have realised there’s no better place to be than Whyalla.
My husband Aaron and I began our business together in 2006, doing earthmoving and then moving into construction as the years progressed and have been successfully running Arcadian Building, Paving & Maintenance for 20 years.
During those years we have been involved in various community groups, donating time and materials to the Whyalla Show, Sunrise Christian School, Life Unlimited Church, Whyalla Car Club, Whyalla Speedway and Whyalla SSAA to name a few.
In 2022 I noticed a niche that required filling in the Whyalla property market, in the form of Pre-Purchase Building Inspections. I started Arca Building Inspections with the wonderful support of my husband, and it has quickly grown into a thriving business, covering not only Whyalla but also towns as far as Coober Pedy, Streaky Bay and Leigh Creek. I also regularly inspect properties in Port Augusta, Port Pirie and Port Lincoln and surrounds.
My high-quality reports have been recently awarded Quality Business Awards for online satisfaction by clients in the Copper Coast Council and Whyalla City Council areas. I love being part of the lives of our future residents and ensuring that they have a thorough inspection and understanding of the properties they’re buying. I especially love talking to investors and families moving into Whyalla about the great things the town has to offer as both a business opportunity and a place to live.
I am raising my two daughters here and intend to continue to grow my business in this wonderful regional city.

Happy New Year everyone.🎉 Can we actually believe that we're already late into January? EWW hopes you've all had a great weekend and been able to escape the heat.
But more importantly, let's kick off 2026 with our regular spotlight on inspirational ladies. And this month is the wonderful Richelle McOmish... ❤️

I’m Richelle McOmish, an independent author and small business owner passionate about storytelling, advocacy, and community. My journey into writing began as a way to share hope, resilience, and real life experiences through children’s books inspired by my own daughters.

My first book, ‘A Girl Like No Other’, was written for my eldest daughter, who has cystic fibrosis. It highlights her strength, imagination, and determination to live a life full of colour and courage. My second book, ‘A Wild Bear’s Words’ was inspired by my youngest daughter’s journey to find her voice through speech therapy and Auslan (Australian Sign Language). Both stories aim to create awareness, inclusion, and connection for children and families navigating challenges.

Beyond writing, I’m passionate about using my platform to raise awareness for cystic fibrosis, celebrate differences, and remind others that every story, no matter how hard, has beauty and meaning. I’m also a woman who fights for the future I deserve, and for the future my children deserve- one built on strength, compassion, and possibility.

As a woman in business, I’ve learned that success isn’t about perfection; it’s about persistence, heart, and staying true to your purpose. I’m proud to be part of a community that supports and uplifts women chasing their dreams.
