This week on Wednesday, we provided support to our partners and clients at the Embassy of Japan for the Emperor’s Birthday Reception held at the Ambassador’s official residence. The celebration of Emperor Naruhito's birthday is a significant event for the people of Japan, and the Japanese Embassy here in Australia honours this occasion with an annual official function.

The function was attended by approximately 520 guests, including the Deputy Prime Minister of Australia and Minister for Defence Hon Richard Marles MP, Minister for Trade and Tourism and Special Minister of State Senator the Hon Don Farrell, Minister for Climate Change and Energy Hon Chris Bowen MP, and Minister for Resources and the Minister for Northern Australia Hon Madeleine King MP, as well as other members of the Australian Federal Parliament, including former prime minister Hon Scott Morrison MP. Representatives from Australian state and territory governments, ambassadors and diplomatic missions in Canberra, such as US Ambassador Caroline Kennedy, members of the Japan-Australia business community, think tanks, academia, and Japan-related friendship organisations were also present.

Our DPG venue coordinator, stationed permanently at the Embassy, led the DPG unit and worked diligently throughout the weeks leading up to the event, ensuring that our security framework and protocols aligned with the logistics of the operation. We deployed two state-of-the-art Magnetometers alongside the existing screening equipment at the embassy, along with some additional advanced screening equipment, to enhance our ability to prevent and disrupt any harmful activities that posed threats to the premises and guests attending.

As with an any event that attracts national and international high office holders from Australia and the wider diplomatic community, our valued colleagues from the Australian Federal Police Close Personal Protection(CPP) teams were present. They, in concert with AFP teams from Security Protection Diplomatic Liason (SPDL) and Diplomatic Uniformed Protection teamed with DPG members to integrate their emergency management response roles and requirements.

DPG maintains a presence at the Embassy of Japan 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our DPG team of security specialists provides continuous oversight and response capabilities at the premises, ensuring that our Japanese allies can conduct diplomatic business safely.

The DPG team monitored access and perimeter security throughout the event. The celebration concluded without incident, and from the feedback we received it was hailed a successful event.

Girl power! Our security team today was led by our highly skilled female security specialists, and they had the unique opportunity to enjoy a fun photo shoot with Her Excellency Mrs Victoria Treadell CMG MVO, the United Kingdom’s High Commissioner to Australia.

As Her Excellency nears the end of her diplomatic term here, she embraced the moment to capture some memories with the all-female DPG crew. Donning the DPG official security vest and hat, and with her own custom DPG security name badge, Her Excellency joined our team to demonstrate her best no-nonsense security pose.

At DPG, we are privileged to provide our services to amazing diplomatic clients. While we uphold the highest standards of professionalism, we also cherish the friendships formed along the way. Her Excellency will be missed by all our team, and we wish her success on her next diplomatic adventure.

Meanwhile, the DPG team will continue to be diligent custodians by maintaining the safety and security in and around the British High Commission. We look forward to welcoming the incoming High Commissioner and continuing our dedication to the successful ex*****on of our protective services.

Our DPG security specialists have been in great demand over the last few weeks with commitments at several significant diplomatic events.

As Part of our ongoing commitment to our Diplomatic Corps clients, DPG teams were tasked to develop and implement a robust security preparedness strategy to cover these events. Our operational objective was to affect several proactive strategies that supported our network of DPG security personnel. These strategies focused on detecting, deterring and disrupting all possible malicious threats that might threaten the safety and integrity of people and premises at this event.

While we take our duty very seriously, the DPG team members who attended the French Embassy’s festivities couldn’t help but enjoy the atmosphere, and sense of community that the day brought. Our security professionals are adept at striking a balance between maintaining a complete security platform while being able to embrace the community spirit and conduct themselves without impacting or detracting from the pleasant environment of the day.

Congratulations to the French Embassy for their hard work and dedication to make the festival a resounding success. Not only was the event executed flawlessly, but it also achieved their objectives and created a meaningful experience for everyone involved. DPG is also happy to report that the event was completed without incident. We’re very proud of our DPG team members and how dedicated they are to their craft.

While ensuring the safety of our Diplomatic Corps is our core business, DPG has been fortunate to be asked to deploy our resources to assist with the security of several international community groups events and functions. These opportunities have traditionally been effectuated through our partnerships with the embassies and High Commission that Diplomatic Protection Group safeguard.

On Saturday DPG security teams provided protective oversight and a safety response capability to the Alliance Francaise de Canberra at their French Markets 2024 held in Turner. The event attracted in the vicinity of 4,000 people, and while there were no security specific incidents, our team did respond to a serious medical emergency and after providing an essential first aid response, they facilitated access to emergency services and medical treatment.

Our team really enjoyed interacting with the community at the event, and preliminary reports from event organisers indicate that the day was very successful and well received.

DPG has established our roots in the diplomatic security field, but we are always adapting our product to meet the market where there is a need.

All staff in our DPG family bring valuable skill sets to our security portfolio, we have former Military (from 3 diferent countries defence forces including Australia), Police from five diferent jurisdictions, two of which are international former Police officers, as well as our security experts with tenure and experience in the security field from a range of backgrounds.

DPG management team has a formidable level of experience and expertise in the Diplomatic Security environment. DPG’s management team boasts a combined 75 years of policing experience, with a significant portion of that tenure as protection operatives withthe Australian Federal Police elite close protection unit. Throughout each of their individual careers our leadership team have successfully executed many high profile police operations regularly involving Australian high office holders as well as members of the diplomatic corps and visiting dignitaries including the royal family. Our DPG Compliance Manager was selected to command the AFP teams charged with maintaining the security footprint for Australia’s most influential government building, New Parliament House, Canberra.

We are very proud of all of our people and where we can, we will share a little insight to to the work and background of our teams, in particular our CEO and Managing Director Jacqui.
