It doesn’t get more remote than this.
In December, we completed works in Pajinka, Cape York, marking the northernmost demolition project ever undertaken on the Australian mainland.
In October, our team was welcomed to Nation by representatives of the Angkamuthi, Atambaya and Gudang Yadhaykenu peoples before commencing works on the former Pajinka Wilderness Lodge, a location many Australians know as the Tip of Australia.
Over the program, the team completed early works for the precinct’s redevelopment, including the demolition of 31 structures, removal of demolition waste and backfill of former pools and septic systems.
A bucket list location for many, but one that comes with real operational challenges, from limited access and tidal constraints to machinery and materials travelling 15 days by barge back to Brisbane. The team adapted to isolation, logistics and the realities of working with minimal on ground infrastructure.
Projects like this continue to strengthen our capability in remote and logistically complex environments, where planning, experience and ex*****on matter most.
It’s been a privilege to support the next phase of this culturally significant place for the Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation.
