Haptic Light Images I am a freelance photographer based in the island of Barbados. My desire is to use photography as a means of 1. Furthering businesses/ individuals 2.

My journey as a photographer began with capturing the structure and posture of the human body in my studies in Structural Integration - a massage technique. Coupled with my early exposure to drawing and a desire to reproduce the things around me using that medium - with limited success i might add - photography has become a passion. I have worked as a photographer for the Barbados Under 20 Women's

Team and have covered events for Barbados Today - an online newspaper. Capturing special events 3. Providing professional photos for albums/ model portfolios 4. Creating art 5. Capturing nature

It is always an enlightening experience to observe the talents of young upcoming artist. Indeed Barbados Talented Teens is one such event that fields much of this talent and grooms it, nourishes it, and then releases it upon its delighted audience. Saturday night at the stroke of 6 pm they came out poised with readiness. They strutted across the stage doing their open routine choreographed by Shea Best. We heard their well prepared introductory speeches as we shouted for our favorite contestant. We were affixed to the stage as each contestant and performer, commanded our attention.

First up was a bitter sweet performance by Dwane Husbands as he sang “ #1 Fan” a tribute to the late Senior Event Coordinator at Lloyd Erskine Sandiford, Maria Inniss. Next the contestants show cased their talents from song, to spoken word, drama to dance, steel pan to comedy. Of note among this highly talented cast was the performance by Adrianna Mayers, singing an original composition - which with her silky voice sounded record label ready - called “Losing Me”. She won best female talent.

The next category was formal wear. All of the pieces were amazing and well carried. However Myles Wilkinson and Ijeo Thorne in the men’s wear showcased Independence themes in a very wearer friendly design. Among the ladies Reanne White’s was a sparkling splendor.

The night would see among the other guest performances, Ieshia Browne a former BTT 2014 Best Talent Winner hoping to sign an upcoming record deal, and the recently crowned Mr. Barbados Caribbean Oswald Joe.

At the last the King's crown belonged to Myles Wilkinson and the Queen’s, Reanne White. Another wonderful night; another King and Queen of Talent. Special thanks to Kobra Management for another spectacular production.

Trees, Spring, a Swan, Solar Energy; these were some of the themes represented in this year's Deighton Griffith Pageant - At One With Nature. They were all well depicted in some stunning costume outfits. Alicia Jack-Weekes wowed the audience in her own self-designed outfit depicting the Swan. Another piece of note was Akeba Pollard's depiction of Solar Energy with a glittering head piece showing the rays of the sun, and a dazzling white top with shimmering pieces, like broken glass covering it's surface. Wing-like appendages were added, no doubt to depict the astronomical distances these rays travelled to reach earth. It was a masterful design, but it didn't win first place. The title of best costume went to the Tree, worn brilliantly by Natifah Richards and designed by Neil Stanley. Her body suit reminded me a bit of Mystique as Natifah stylishly "became" the tree.
Next was the talent session. By this time if they were any nerves still playing on the contestants, it was hard to decipher. They danced, sang, spoke and play-acted. Nionna won this section with her creative dance piece.
In the formal wear segment, it was always in my mind, going to be a hard call. One of my favorite pieces was that worn by Nzingha Nurse which she displayed with a very classy model walk. They were all fantastic outfits, but in the end Akeba Pollard would win the award for Best Formal Wear.
The Question and Answer Segment seemed to have caught some of the contestants offguard. The crowd was forgiving and supportive as they encouraged the ladies to gather their thoughts and complete their responses. Mahogany Brim who's talent piece was a perfectly rendered, original spoken word piece entitled " The NBA" - recited in parts, at such a quick tempo, that she received applause even before completing - , here to mastered this question and answer segment, placing first in this category.
In the end, screams would fill the school's hall as Akeba Pollard was crowned Miss Deighton Griffith 2016. To each of the contestants we say, job well done! You will all be remembered as this night lives on in the minds of those blessed to have attended.

Talent, fun, entertainment, a big crowd, informed judges, well prepared contestants; it was the type of pageant one enjoys to attend. An early, relatively on time start and an appropriate finish. The type of smooth transitions that speak volumes about the type of high-leveled preparation. And how could I forget; fashion! It was truly a spectacular night where each of the contestants wowed us. Undoubtedly they were all changed for the better, for haven decided to take this journey as they vied for the coveted crowns and titles. Congrats to all of them. Thanks to the entertainers, the MC, DJ and lighting crew, and congrats to the organizers for a job well done.

First time for me attending this event. My first thought on arriving was, Wow! What an interesting setup. There would also be more reasons to say wow! The outfits, the models, the entertainment, the flow of the program, the panel of professional judges.
