We have adopted a multiple approach to the design of a space. The information gained from site analysis is invaluable. In our process we ask questions. "How does the site affect our senses?" Are these effects good?" "How can we enhance and our frame the qualities that our clients can enjoy?"
At site 13.085726N, -59.472695W we captured views while standing on a 20 foot shipping container at approximately 17 feet above the ground, looking down the tunnel of the street. The flat site is at the end of a cul-de-sac with properties being developed on three and a half sides making this street view towards the horizon of the ocean will be the only enjoyable and unobstructed long distance vista of note.
We acknowledged that views will improve with height, initially with lookouts on the first floor and then from the second floor level. To this end we set out to create these opportunities to bring those views to the human experience of the space.
Already there is a two story building on the east, and opportunities for two story development of properties to which the site shares boundaries. This eventually not only reduces views out but also impact on the privacy of the site from the outside. This prompted exploration of of developing developing internal site views with the creation of courtyards.
