A national-level consultation and validation workshop on the inclusive implementation of the Standing Orders on Disaster (SOD) 2019 was held on 29 April 2026 at the Department of Disaster Management, Mohakhali, Dhaka, jointly organized by CRD and CDD. At the outset, the workshop observed a one-minute silence in memory of those who lost their lives in disasters, especially the victims of the 1991 Bangladesh Cyclone, and in solidarity with survivors, particularly women, children, and persons with disabilities. Following this, Dr. Mokhlesur Rahman, Managing Director of CRD, opened the event and emphasized the importance of validating the study findings to strengthen inclusive disaster management in Bangladesh. Thereafter, Mr. Razwanur Rahman, Director General of the Department of Disaster Management, highlighted the importance of SOD 2019 as the national guiding framework for disaster management and stressed the need for its inclusive implementation.
Subsequently, Ms. Mahmuda Akter presented the study background and methodology, while M. Mushfiqul Wara shared the key findings, gaps, and recommendations. During the discussion, the Director General acknowledged progress in some areas; however, he also agreed persistent gaps in accessible and gender-sensitive toilet facilities as well as in inclusive, need-based relief distribution. Finally, the workshop concluded with closing remarks from the Director General, DDM, and Mr. Netay Dey Sarkar, Director, DDM, who thanked the participants and reaffirmed the commitment to more inclusive implementation of SOD 2019.

The first day of the two-day Enumerators’ Training for the study on “Violence against Women in relation to land in Bangladesh” was successfully conducted on 15 April 2026 at the CRD Office in Dhaka. The training began with a welcome session, participant introductions, and a short icebreaking exercise facilitated by Gazi Muhammad Suhrawardy (Head of Department – R&E and Lead consultant of the assignment) and Md. Omar Faroque (Deputy Manager – R&E). During this session, a brief overview of CRD was also shared to familiarize the enumerators with the organization and its work, helping set up a positive and engaging tone for the day.
This was followed by an overview of the study and a session on the research methodology, where enumerators were introduced to the objectives, overall design, and field approach. The next session focused on key thematic issues, concepts, and terminologies related to land related violence against women, helping ensure a shared understanding among the participants.
A significant portion of the day was dedicated to a detailed review of the survey questionnaire. The facilitators guided the enumerators through each section, explaining the intent behind the questions, proper sequencing, and accurate response recording. The sessions were interactive, with participants asking questions and discussing practical challenges they might face in the field. Given the sensitive nature of the topic, particular emphasis was placed on asking questions with care, maintaining respect, and being mindful of the cultural context.
The day concluded with continued discussion on the survey tools and a brief recap of the key points. Overall, the first day focused on building a clear understanding of the study, strengthening familiarity with the tools, and preparing enumerators with the confidence needed for effective field data collection.

A Stakeholder Consultation Workshop was held on 11 April 2026, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Hotel Warisan, Rajshahi, as part of data collection for the study titled “Mapping of Existing Support Services and Institutes to Develop a Referral Pathway to Support Affected Journalists, Activists and Human Rights Defenders” under the Shwadhinata Project. The study was commissioned by Plan International and is being conducted by CRD. The workshop was organized and facilitated by CRD in collaboration with Barendra Economic Development Organization (BEDO), with participation from BEDO team members, journalists, human rights defenders, and representatives from legal and other organizations.

During the session, participants reviewed current support services, identified key gaps, and discussed policy-related challenges. The discussion highlighted the need for improved coordination among stakeholders to build a more effective and accessible referral system, while also emphasizing system strengthening, access to information, and capacity building.

A Stakeholder Consultation Workshop was held on 7 April 2026 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Breaking the Silence (BTS) office as part of data collection for the study titled “Mapping of Existing Support Services and Institutes to Develop a Referral Pathway to Support Affected Journalists, Activists and Human Rights Defenders” under the Shwadhinota Project.
The study was commissioned by Plan International and is being conducted by CRD. The workshop was organized and facilitated by CRD in collaboration with BTS, bringing together BTS team members, journalists, human rights defenders (HRDs), and representatives from youth organizations.
Participants discussed existing support services, identified gaps in service provision, and shared challenges related to accessing timely and appropriate assistance. The consultation highlighted the importance of strengthening coordination among stakeholders to develop an effective, responsive, and accessible referral pathway.

CRD successfully conducted a one-day Research Team Training for the study titled "Inclusive Implementation of the Standing Orders on Disaster (SOD) 2019" for the Centre for Disability and Development (CDD). The training witnessed active participation from CRD representatives, 7 research team members, and representatives of CDD, who joined online via Zoom.
The day began with an introduction and opening speech facilitated by the Lead Consultant of CRD and Gender Expert, Dr. Md. Mokhlesur Rahman. He provided an overview of the study and briefly discussed the research methodology and key dimensions of data quality.
Following the opening session, Mahmuda Akter, Deputy Manager of CRD, presented the detailed methodology of the study and provided an overview of the data collection tools. After a short tea break, Mahmuda Akter discussed key terminologies related to gender as reflected in the data collection tools. Representatives from CDD Anika Rahman Lipy, Assistant director and Subir Kumar Saha, Project Manager, joined this session via Zoom. Muhammad Mushfiqul Wara, Disability and Inclusion Expert, then explained major terminologies related to disability and inclusivity. The Head of the Research and Evaluation Department of CRD, Gazi Mohammad Suhrawardy, facilitated the session on ethical considerations and safeguarding policy.
Following the lunch and prayer break, the training resumed with a detailed discussion on consultations, Semi-Structured Group Discussions (SGDs), and Key Informant Interview (KII) tools. These sessions were facilitated by deputy manager Mahmuda Akter and Iftekharul Islam, a Research team member of CRD, respectively. After another tea break, Iftekharul Islam continued his session, providing feedback, corrections, and suggestions on the tools.
The day concluded with a summary of the key takeaways, facilitated by Gazi Mohammad Suhrawardy.

The second day of the Enumerators’ Training for the endline evaluation of the Joining Forces for Food Security and Child Protection in Emergencies (JF-FS&CPiE) project in Bangladesh was successfully conducted on 05 April 2026 at the PULSE Bangladesh Society Training and Resource Center in Cox’s Bazar, organized by CRD. The sessions were facilitated by Saleh Khan (Deputy Manager – R&E and Focal Person for the assignment) and Rahat Hannan (Senior Officer – R&E), with a strong focus on practical application and field readiness.
The day began with intensive mock test sessions in which enumerators practiced delivering questions, recording responses, and using interview techniques to simulate real field scenarios. This was followed by sharing of project activities by Project Managers from Plan International Bangladesh (Muhammad Abu Bakar Siddique) and World Vision Bangladesh (Kamrul Hasan), which helped participants gain a clearer understanding of the project interventions and expected outcomes. Subsequently, MD. Mokhlesur Rahman Sagar, Lead of the assignment, conducted a session on Data Quality Assurance, emphasizing the importance of accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data, along with key dos and don’ts during field data collection.
After lunch, a session on safeguarding and risk assessment during data collection was conducted, focusing on ethical considerations and ensuring the safety and dignity of respondents. The day also included discussions on field planning, supervision, and respondent selection to support effective field implementation. Overall, the second day of the training strengthened enumerators’ practical competencies, reinforced data quality standards, and ensured their preparedness to carry out fieldwork with professionalism and accountability.

The first day of the Enumerators’ Training for the endline evaluation of the Joining Forces for Food Security and Child Protection in Emergencies (JF-FS&CPiE) project in Bangladesh was successfully conducted on 04 April 2026 at the PULSE Bangladesh Society Training and Resource Center in Cox’s Bazar, organized by CRD. The sessions were facilitated by Saleh Khan (Deputy Manager – R&E and Focal Person for the assignment) and Rahat Hannan (Senior Officer – R&E), beginning with an introduction and a comprehensive project briefing to align participants with the overall study framework and field context.
This was followed by a detailed session covering the research methodology and sample size distribution. A major focus of the day was the thorough review of the survey questionnaire, during which enumerators practiced structured question delivery and response recording, along with qualitative data collection tools, including FGDs and KIIs. Given the cultural context, particular emphasis was placed on hands-on practice to ensure that questions are communicated clearly and effectively to respondents with cultural sensitivity.
Overall, the first day of the training aimed to equip enumerators with the practical skills, clarity, and confidence required for high-quality and reliable field data collection.

Key Responsibility

1. Assist in designing and implementing gender-sensitive research tools, framework and methodologies.
2. Support gender analysis in qualitative and quantitative research projects.
3. Conduct field visits, interviews, and focus group discussions with gender-specific sensitivity.
4. Review and analyze data to identify gender disparities and insights.
5. Contribute to drafting research reports, policy briefs, and other knowledge products with gender-focused findings.
6. Monitor gender-related components of research projects to ensure compliance with ethical and inclusivity standards.
7. Work with internal teams to build staff capacity on gender issues and promote a gender-inclusive work environment.
8. Stay up to date with current trends, literature, and policies related to gender and development.
9. Support the development of proposals and concept notes with a gender lens.
10. Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.

Educational Requirement

• A Master’s degree in Women’s Studies, Women and Gender Studies, Gender & Development Studies is required.
• A foreign degree will be considered an added advantage.

Experience & Skills Requirement

1. Minimum of 4-5 years’ research experience
2. Proficient in formal and academic English, both written and spoken
3. Fast and accurate typing skills in both Bengali and English
4. Strong analytical skills in both quantitative and qualitative data
5. Experienced in writing research proposals and reports in English
6. Willing and able to travel extensively to remote areas of Bangladesh and follow the instructions of the designated focal person
7. Capable of executing plans with clear targets and deadlines
8. Able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
9. Demonstrates a high level of integrity and the ability to maintain confidentiality
10. Willing to work beyond regular office hours when required (especially in meeting Deadline)
