Transforming Dhaka’s waste into a resource-driven future.

A major shift is coming in the capital’s waste management system as Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) moves forward with an ambitious master plan to convert the Matuail Sanitary Landfill into a modern Resource Circulation Park in collaboration with BNF Company Ltd.

This groundbreaking initiative aims to turn waste into value by producing:
✅ Electricity from methane recovery and solar energy
✅ Fuel oil from waste processing
✅ Compost and fertilizer from organic waste
✅ Recyclable materials through Material Recovery Facilities (MRF)

Key highlights of the project:
✅ Approximately 222 MW electricity from methane utilization
✅ Around 76 MW solar power generation
✅ 300 tons of waste processed daily in the pilot phase
✅ Integrated production of biogas, fuel, oil, compost, and recyclables
✅ Landfill to be gradually transformed into an eco-park

The $435 million project will be fully financed by the private partner, with DSCC receiving 20% of the profit share under a 15-year agreement. Pilot operations are expected to begin soon, marking a significant step toward modern, sustainable urban waste management in Dhaka.

Waste is no longer the end of the cycle — it’s becoming the beginning of energy, economy, and environment.

📍 B&F Company Limited continues to advance the Dhaka Resource Circulation Park (DRCP) pilot through data-driven groundwork.

On 19 April 2026, our technical team conducted a seasonal waste segregation study at the Matuail Sanitary Landfill to better understand variations in municipal solid waste composition.

Approximately 10–20 kg representative sample of mixed waste was manually segregated into key fractions—food waste, plastics, paper, polythene, glass, and ceramics—followed by detailed measurement and analysis to develop a composition profile.

This activity builds on our earlier dry-season assessment conducted on 29 January, with a wet-season study planned next. These analyses are essential for optimizing technology selection and system design for the DRCP pilot.

🌍 Korean High-Level Delegation Visits Dhaka, Opens New Horizon for DRCP Project

📍 Dhaka, April 4, 2026

A high-level delegation from Korea Resource Circulation Agency (KORA), a specialized organization under the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Korea, visited Bangladesh from April 1 to April 3 at the invitation of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and under the arrangement of B&F Company Limited.

This visit marks a significant step forward in strengthening international cooperation in sustainable waste management and circular economy initiatives in Dhaka. ♻️

👥 Delegation Members:
The delegation was led by Lee Myung Hwan, President of KORA, and included:

* Kim Young Gak, Director of KORA
* Il Ho Cho, President of C.I Ecotech (MRF Machine Manufacturing Company)
* Lee Joo Young, CEO of RE-CO (Carbon Credit Consulting Firm)

🏗️ Site Visit & DRCP Inauguration:
On the first day, the delegation inspected the Matuail Sanitary Landfill, where they were warmly received by engineers from DSCC and B&F Company Limited.

During the visit, the delegation officially inaugurated the site office of the **Dhaka Resource Circulation Park (DRCP)** project.

C.W. Park, Managing Director of B&F Company Limited, presented the overall concept, technical framework, and future implementation plan of the DRCP project.

The delegation also visited:

* Designated project land
* Proposed Landfill Gas (LFG) project area
* Waste unloading zones
* Leachate water treatment plant

🤝 MoU Signing at Nagar Bhaban (April 2):
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between:

* Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC)
* Korea Resource Circulation Agency (KORA)
* B&F Company Limited

The agreement establishes cooperation in:
✔️ Circular economy development
✔️ Resource recovery
✔️ Sustainable waste management
✔️ Carbon credit (ITMO)
✔️ Plastic recovery systems
✔️ Advanced technology exchange

চট্টগ্রামে আধুনিক বর্জ্য ব্যবস্থাপনার যুগ শুরু
চট্টগ্রাম সিটি কর্পোরেশন (চসিক)-এর উদ্যোগে বায়েজিদ ও হালিশহর ডাম্পিং গ্রাউন্ড ধাপে ধাপে আধুনিক স্যানিটারি ল্যান্ডফিলে রূপান্তর করা হবে।
 এ প্রকল্প বাস্তবায়নে চসিক ও B&F Company Limited এর মধ্যে সমঝোতা চুক্তি স্বাক্ষর হয়েছে।
 আধুনিক প্রযুক্তির মাধ্যমে বর্জ্য থেকে উৎপাদিত হবে বিদ্যুৎ ও জ্বালানি।
 প্রথম ধাপে প্রতিদিন ১৫০ টন বর্জ্য প্রক্রিয়াজাত করা হবে, ধাপে ধাপে সক্ষমতা বাড়িয়ে প্রতিদিন ২,০০০ টন বর্জ্য প্রক্রিয়াজাতের লক্ষ্য রয়েছে।
 এর ফলে বর্জ্যের আকার কমে আসবে, পরিবেশ দূষণ হ্রাস পাবে এবং চট্টগ্রামে টেকসই বর্জ্য ব্যবস্থাপনা গড়ে উঠবে।
মেয়র ডা. শাহাদাত হোসেন বলেছেন:
"চট্টগ্রামের প্রতিনিয়ত বাড়তে থাকা বর্জ্য ব্যবস্থাপনায় আধুনিক প্রযুক্তির কোনো বিকল্প নেই। ধাপে ধাপে স্যানিটারি ল্যান্ডফিল গড়ে তোলা হবে।"
এটি চট্টগ্রামকে আরও পরিচ্ছন্ন, আধুনিক ও পরিবেশবান্ধব শহর হিসেবে গড়ে তুলতে বড় পদক্ষেপ।
