Here is Land Use Land Cover Map of Old Dhaka
⭕️Key Finding-
Old Dhaka has undergone rapid urban expansion, with settlement areas increasing sharply between 2000 and 2025. In contrast, vegetation, open spaces, and water bodies have steadily declined, being replaced by built-up areas. By 2025, the city is highly congested, with very little green cover or open space left. This indicates unplanned urbanization, environmental degradation, and reduced urban livability.
⭕️LULC is important for-

✅Urban and regional planning – city growth, infrastructure, zoning
✅Natural resource management – forest, soil, water, agriculture
✅Disaster management – floods, landslides, drought risk zones
✅Climate studies – urban heat island, carbon cycle, LST analysis
✅Agriculture and food security – cropland mapping, irrigation planning
✅Water resource management – runoff, watershed, groundwater recharge
