If you send thousands of emails blindly without realizing it, Google or other mail service providers can mark your company's main domain as 'spammer' or harmful and block it forever.
The reason why your business will be destroyed as a result is that from now on, even if you send a normal email to any of your clients, partners or team members, it will go directly to their Spam Folder or the email will not be delivered at all. Without your knowledge, your main way of communicating with clients will be closed.
Why and how is this big loss happening without your knowledge?
Many people think that just gathering an email list and sending thousands of emails at once is the end of the matter. But on the backend, Google (Gmail) and Yahoo (Yahoo) have tightened email security a lot according to their new policies for 2024. Below are the main mistakes and problems:
1. Not warming up the domain
If you start sending 500 or 1,000 emails on the first day of opening a new domain or email account, Google's algorithm will immediately consider it as 'suspicious' or a bot. It is impossible for a human to send so many emails in a day. As a result, the domain gets blocked.
2. Lack of technical setup (What is SPF, DKIM, DMARC?)
Most people start sending emails without these 3 important technical setups.
SPF (Sender Policy Framework): This proves that the email came from your real server.
DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail): This adds a digital signature to the email, which proves that the email has not been hacked or modified in the middle.
DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication): This tells Google what action to take if someone is spamming you using your name.
Problem: If these three things are not set up, Google blocks your email as "Unverified" or fake.
3. Not verifying the email list (High Bounce Rate)
If 20%-30% of the emails you are sending to the 10,000 email list are fake, closed or non-existent, the emails will bounce. According to Google's rules, your domain reputation starts to deteriorate when the bounce rate is more than 2%.
4. Spam Traps and Spam Complaints
If the emails you send are not relevant, many people get annoyed and click the "Report Spam" button. If only 30-40 people out of your 10,000 emails report spam (i.e. more than 0.3%), then in Google's eyes you are a harmful spammer.
How to avoid these mistakes and keep your business alive
If you want to do email marketing or lead generation professionally, you must follow these rules:
Do not use the main domain: Never send cold emails from the main domain of your business. For this, you should always use a secondary domain (such as: yourcompany.co or getyourcompany.com). Even if there is a problem with this, the main business is protected.
Start slowly (Domain Warm-up): Increase the credibility of the domain by sending 5, 10, 20 emails every day. AI automation tools can be used for this
