The mission of this department is to provide programs composed of courses which are structured to equip students with a solid foundation in the biological sciences, alongside training at the forefront of research. The department aims to develop the leadership quality in the students with a vision and capacity to carry out the mission, and make a significant difference locally and globally in the field of biological science. The vision of this department is to reach national and international recognition for excellence, innovation and regional engagement. The biotech industry doesn’t just attract people starting out in the world of work: half of all biotech job-seekers in 2011 were midway through their career. As well as advanced research positions, jobs in regulatory science and government policy are all options for people with more experience.Those with experience may also have better luck breaking into the industry through newer research areas.
