On 21 April 2026, a dynamic Media and Information Literacy (MIL) workshop was conducted at University of Rajshahi under the Youth-Focused MIL for an Informed Bangladesh initiative of the UNESCO Electoral BALLOT Project in collaboration with Department of Information Studies, East West University, UNESCO Dhaka, and MILNetBD.

The session engaged a total of 21 participants, bringing together a diverse group of students who actively took part in discussions and interactive activities. The workshop focused on enhancing participantsโ€™ ability to access, evaluate, and use information effectively in an age of information overload and widespread misinformation.

Through collaborative exercises and real-life examples, participants developed a deeper understanding of identifying credible sources, recognizing misinformation, and practicing responsible digital citizenship. The session also encouraged critical thinking and informed decision-making, which are essential skills for academic and everyday contexts.

Overall, the workshop created an engaging learning environment and contributed to strengthening Media and Information Literacy competencies among students at the University of Rajshahi.

On 11 April 2026, an engaging Media and Information Literacy (MIL) workshop was held at Khwaja Yunus Ali University as part of the Youth-Focused MIL for an Informed Bangladesh initiative under the UN Electoral BALLOT Project.

The session brought together 10 students, including 7 male and 3 female participants, creating a participatory and interactive learning atmosphere.

Supported by UNESCO Dhaka, the Department of Information Studies at East West University, and MILNetBD, the workshop focused on strengthening critical thinking skills, promoting responsible media consumption, and encouraging informed digital engagement.

The program also fostered awareness among students about identifying misinformation, disinformation, hate speech, and making ethical use of information in their academic and everyday lives.

On 6 April 2026, a dynamic Media and Information Literacy (MIL) workshop took place at the University of Chittagong under the Youth-Focused MIL for an Informed Bangladesh initiative of the UN Electoral BALLOT Project.

Youth for Change!

A Media and Information Literacy (MIL) workshop was held at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) on 9 April 2026 under the Youth-Focused MIL for an Informed Bangladesh initiative of the UN Electoral BALLOT Project.

In collaboration with UNESCO Dhaka, the Department of Information Studies, East West University, and MILNetBD, the workshop brought together 20 enthusiastic students from different departments including 10 male and 10 female participants focusing on critical thinking, responsible media use, and digital citizenship.

Department of Information Studies, East West University in collaboration with Media and Information Literacy Network Bangladesh (MILNetBD) and UNESCO Dhaka, successfully contributed to a day-long workshop on Media and Information Literacy (MIL) held at East West University.

The workshop brought together around 40 students from diverse academic backgrounds, creating an engaging platform to enhance critical thinking, information evaluation, and responsible media use in todayโ€™s digital age.

The initiative was conducted under the Youth-Focused Media and Information Literacy (MIL) for an Informed Bangladesh, part of the UN-led BALLOT Project. Through interactive sessions and practical activities, participants developed essential skills to navigate the complex information landscape and become informed, responsible digital citizens.

Dr. Dilara Begum, Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Information Studies, East West University, and President of MILNetBD, attended the program as the Chief Guest, emphasizing the importance of MIL in empowering youth and strengthening democratic values.

|| Empowering youth for an informed Bangladesh ||

As part of the Youth-Focused Media and Information Literacy (MIL) for an Informed Bangladesh initiative under the UN Electoral BALLOT Project, the Department of Media and Communication, Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), in collaboration with MILNetBD, UNESCO Dhaka and Department of Information Studies, East West University organized a day-long workshop on Media and Information Literacy on 2 April.

The workshop brought together 29 enthusiastic students in an engaging learning environment. Through interactive discussions, hands-on activities, and real-life case explorations, participants developed essential skills to identify and counter misinformation and disinformation.

The sessions emphasized critical thinking, responsible digital engagement, and informed civic participation, equipping young individuals to navigate todayโ€™s complex information landscape with confidence, integrity, and ethical awareness.

As part of a nationwide initiative spanning 15 universities, this programme will further empower student groups to design and implement impactful social action projects under faculty mentorship, supported by small grants.

Together, we are nurturing a generation of informed, responsible, and resilient digital citizens.

As part of the Youth-Focused Media and Information Literacy (MIL) for an Informed Bangladesh initiative under the UN Electoral Ballot Project, the Department of Information Science and Library Management, University of Dhaka, successfully organized a workshop on Media and Information Literacy on 31 March 2026.

The workshop was conducted in collaboration with UNESCO Dhaka, the Department of Information Studies, East West University, and MILNetBD, bringing together participants to enhance awareness and skills related to critical thinking, responsible information use, and digital citizenship.
