Weâre excited to share the development of our latest project â the Smart Attendance and Result Management System (SARMS)!
Over the past 4.5 months, Team Tin_Ustad has independently developed this system by learning from publicly available resources and solving real-world challenges through continuous trial and error. The idea first took shape during a conversation with Dr. HM Rashed Sir, Head of the GPB Department at BAU, whose curiosity and encouragement inspired us to take on the challenge. His occasional feedback as a potential user was insightful and motivating throughout the journey.
The core concept? Teachers can initiate a short virtual attendance session (2â10 minutes), during which students must log in from a registered device. The system captures their location to verify physical presence â a mechanism designed to prevent proxy attendance. So far, itâs performing reliably.
Key Features:
Teacher Dashboard: Manage student data, remove entries if needed, and generate/save/print attendance reports.
Hybrid Attendance: Use both manual and automated methods flexibly.
Student Panel: Participate in active attendance sessions and track attendance history.
Notice Board: Teachers can share announcements with enrolled students.
Assignment Portal: Teachers assign tasks, students submit, teachers evaluate â and all marks (attendance, CTs, final exams) are automatically reflected in the result sheet, ready for printing.
The system is currently undergoing testing under the observation of teachers from the Computer Science & Mathematics (CSM) Department to assess performance in practical settings and identify areas for further improvement.
This journey has strengthened our problem-solving skills, deepened our understanding of real-world system development, and pushed us to work as a team.
Special thanks to Dr. HM Rashed Sir for his support and encouragement, and to the teachers of the CSM Department for their ongoing guidance during the testing phase.
