You’re pouring money into ads. Traffic looks decent. But sales? Flat.
Here’s what’s probably happening and why it’s not your product’s fault.
Most Shopify stores I audit have the same invisible problem: they’re optimized for *browsing*, not for *buying*.
I looked at the numbers. US retail sales just hit over $302 billion in Q1 2026. That’s up 9.7% from last year. But that growth isn’t evenly shared. The stores capturing it aren’t just driving more traffic they’re ruthlessly fixing the small leaks in their conversion funnel.
So, what are those leaks?
First, your product page might be talking features when it should be selling transformation. Do you have a clear, benefit-led headline above the fold? Not just “Premium Leather Wallet” but “The Slim Wallet That Fits In Your Front Pocket Without Destroying It.”
Second, your checkout is probably leaking trust. Are there unexpected costs appearing at the final step? Is the shipping info vague? In 2026, with global ecommerce sales hitting $6.88 trillion, customers have zero patience for uncertainty. They’ll just bounce.
Third, you might have a repeat purchase problem. Are you capturing emails effectively? Is there a post-purchase sequence, or just… silence? The real growth isn’t just in the first sale anymore. It’s in the second and third.
This isn’t about guesswork. It’s diagnosis.
If you’re spending to get people to your store and they’re not buying, or buying once and never coming back, the fix usually isn’t “more traffic.” It’s a surgical look at these three areas.
What’s the biggest bottleneck you’re seeing in your store right now traffic, conversion, or repeat purchases?
