You can do it with text. But did you know that you can do it with computer aided design too?
Computer aided design is CAD and it's what architects, technologists, fake architects and plan drawers use when drawing up plans for buildings.
There are several common house types in the UK. The 3-bed 1930's semi and the Victorian terrace being the most common, with several standard ways of extending and altering these house types.
The most typical of these is the “within-permitted-development” extension. This one goes full width across the back and 3 meters back into the garden, creating an open-plan kitchen diner with bi-fold doors to the garden.
Lots of people like the open plan family room idea, so many people get this design copy pasted onto their house.

It's not always the best solution for your family, or your vision of your home and life. Or for your house, especially if your house plan is slightly at variance to the typical.
I once saw a proud builder showing off his completed project photos. The photos were lovely and the finish his team had achieved was a high standard. But the design was terrible and no amount of flawless plaster skim could disguise it.
At first glance it was a typical “within-permitted-development” extension. A copy paste job.
But the “designer” had added a downstairs loo and utility room to the mix, as I'm sure the clients had requested. This led to a very odd configuration.
Thy could only fit a sofa sat back to the garden and facing the toilet door. I can imagine scenarios when a family might take it in turns to go to the loo while the others sit on the sofa desperately waiting their turn, eyes fixed to the toilet door, but it seems an unlikely wish.
Sadly I expect that this family will not love their newly extended home and will be disappointed with what they got for their money and hassle. Despite the lovely quality of build, they can't arrange their furniture as they'd like or use the space in a comfortable and pleasurable way.
They may or may not realise that the reason they don't love their newly extended home is because they got a copy paste design, inexpertly adjusted.
