Bangladesh's mango sector has similarly progressed from a seasonal domestic trade into a strategic economic asset that supports rural livelihoods, strengthens export earnings, and encourages agro-industrial diversification. The challenge now for policymakers is to unlock the immense value that lies beyond the orchard gate through processing, branding, and export expansion.

The national figures provide ample reason for optimism. Mango production reached nearly 25.4 lakh tonnes last season, while the target for 2026–27 has been raised to approximately 26.7 lakh tonnes, cultivated across more than two lakh hectares of orchard land nationwide. Few countries can match production on this scale.
