What matters isn’t avoiding extreme conditions. It’s how the technology responds when they happen.

Short circuits are a real electrical fault scenario, which is why understanding cell behaviour under stress is an important part of evaluating energy storage technology.

In the test shown here, the FoR-E hybrid supercapacitor cell remained physically contained while the external connection took the stress.

For us, that’s what safety by design means: starting at cell level, rather than relying only on systems around it.
Energy storage built to last.

The cable burns. The cell does not. ⚡
What happens when a FoR-E hybrid supercapacitor cell is pushed to an extreme electrical fault?

In our short-circuit test, the terminals were connected directly, outdoors, without restraint or cooling.

The footage speaks for itself: the cable insulation burns, while the cell remains intact, with no ignition or fire propagation.

Because energy storage safety isn’t just about preventing faults. It’s about how the technology responds when they happen.

Safety starts at cell level.

What happens inside an energy-storage cell when its internal structure is physically compromised?

Nail pe*******on testing creates a severe internal short circuit by driving a steel nail through the cell.

In the test shown in our latest video, the FoR-E hybrid supercapacitor cell was instrumented to record voltage and temperature throughout the process. Following pe*******on, no ignition, no flame and no thermal runaway were observed, and the pouch remained contained apart from the pe*******on itself.

Because when it comes to energy storage, safety isn’t only about responding to an incident. It starts with how the cell itself behaves when something goes wrong.

Design out the risk.

What happens when an energy storage cell is pushed to one of the most severe mechanical abuse conditions?

We put the FoR-E hybrid supercapacitor cell to the test. A steel nail was driven directly through the cell, creating an internal short circuit and the result speaks for itself: no ignition, no flame and no thermal runaway observed.

Because safety isn’t only about protecting a system when something goes wrong. It starts with how the cell itself responds.

What happens when something goes wrong?

Battery fires can create intense heat, overpressure risks and difficult conditions for emergency services.

As energy storage becomes part of more homes, businesses and infrastructure, fire safety cannot simply be treated as an additional feature.

At FoR-E, we believe safety starts with the storage technology itself. Our approach is built around graphene hybrid supercapacitors, with fire safety at the core of the system design.

Energy storage should store energy, not introduce a new fire risk.
