HISTORY OF PICPA-BAHRAIN TOASTMASTERS CLUB (by DTM E.Quitevis)
The Club is a product of informal discussions among PICPA (Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants) - Bahrain chapter officers and advisers (ie. Lito, Ric, & Cesar) to stimulate sustainable interest, membership growth and professional development. As Vice President for Professional Development, Mr. Ric Ayuyayo,s trust dur
ing his term was the enhancement of the competitiveness of Filipino CPA's. It came to light its member's inability to communicate effectively and the need to develop their confidence and leadership skills. That became a leadership challenge. Its incumbent officers, backed by all its past presidents, took the challenge and unanimously agreed to address these address these concerns by forming a toastmasters club. On 25 September 2008, Mr. Augustus Cesar Navarro, then PICPA-Bahrain Chapter's President, sent email blast to all its members encouraging them to support the project. VP Ric did his part by personally calling members. Their Joint efforts paid off. DTM Alex Ginete, with whom the top two officers seek help for the clubs formation, and MR Navarro became the Clubs sponsor. DDTM Fe Gutierrez, an associate member , and ATM Elpidio Quitevis were appointed as club mentors. On 29 December 2008, a demo meeting was held followed by its first regular meeting on January 12 2009. Chartering and Induction of Founding Officers and members were held at Ramada Palace on January 29, 2009 with Carlito Bugarin as its Charter President. PICPA Bahrain Toastmasters (Club No. 1267238) was officially born.
