WHO SOLD NIGERIA TO THE BRITISH FOR £865K IN 1899?

This is the story of the first oil war, which was fought in the 19th century, in the area that became Nigeria.

All through the 19th century, palm oil was highly sought-after by the British, for use as an industrial lubricant for machinery. Remember that Britain was the world’s first industrialised nation, so they needed resources such as palm oil to maintain that.

Palm oil, of course, is a tropical plant, which is native to the Niger Delta. Malaysia’s dominance came a century later. By 1870, palm oil had replaced slaves as the main export of the Niger Delta, the area which was once known as the Slave Coast. At first, most of the trade in the oil palm was uncoordinated, with natives selling to those who gave them the best deals. Native chiefs such as former slave, Jaja of Opobo became immensely wealthy because of oil palm. With this wealth came influence.

However, among the Europeans, there was competition for who would get preferential access to the lucrative oil palm trade. In 1879, George Goldie formed the United African Company (UAC), which was modelled on the former East India Company. Goldie effectively took control of the Lower Niger River. By 1884, his company had 30 trading posts along the Lower Niger. This monopoly gave the British a strong hand against the French and Germans in the 1884 Berlin Conference. The British got the area that the UAC operated in, included in their sphere of influence after the Berlin Conference.

When the Brits got the terms they wanted from other Europeans, they began to deal with the African chiefs. Within two years of 1886, Goldie had signed treaties with tribal chiefs along the Benue and Niger Rivers whilst also penetrating inland. This move inland was against the spirit of verbal agreements that had been made to restrict the organisation’s activities to coastal regions.

By 1886, the company name changed to The National Africa Company and was granted a royal charter (inco

How Prophet Daniel Abodunrin Was Torn Apart By Lions at UI Zoo in 1991.

On a fateful day in 1991, visitors stormed the University of Ibadan zoo, as usual, to see the animals and enjoy the serene environment it provides. Of all the animals in the zoo, lions attract the highest number of visitors. It is said that a visit to the UI zoo without seeing the lions is
incomplete.

As aforementioned, on that day, everybody was at the zoo to have a nice time seeing the animals except a man, a bold and daring prophet named Daniel Abodunrin who was on a different mission. The prophet wanted to show people the “work of God of Daniel” by walking right into the lions’ cage to pet them like Daniel did in the bible without getting mauled.

Prophet Daniel Abodunrin’s intention was to recreate the biblical story of Daniel who out of envy was thrown to lions that have been mysteriously tamed by God. The biblical story has it that God sent down angels to shut the mouths of the lions.

A determined Prophet Daniel Abodunrin walked up
to some staff members of the zoo and requested to gain entry into the lions’ cage. No one in his/her right senses will grant such a request, so the prophet was turned down, Whether he sneaked in or not, one thing is certain, the prophet found his way into the cage.

He called unto the “God of Daniel” to perform wonders. He was shouting “Jah, Jah, Jah”, a shortened form of Jehovah. At first, the lions retreated to a corner of their cage. Unknown to the prophet, Lions are likely to retreat at first when they see something unusual in their territory and later, they get rid of it. Prophet Daniel Abodunrin thought his faith was really working; that the God of Daniel was Performing wonders. He then moved nearer to the lions as he kept chanting bible verses. Then in a flash, the lions pounced on Him.
He battled for his dear life but his strength was no match for the hefty lions and in a moment, he was torn apart and eaten.

Buhari went to church and it was not a problem. Osinbanjo went to church and it was not a problem. Tinubu goes to mosque, sits down while others kneel and it is not a problem. Peter Obi goes to church and it becomes a major issue.

The worst abomination anybody can commit is to say that Peter Obi is Ipob therefore he is not qualified to be in A*o rock. It is a sin against humanity. To regionalise Peter Obi is a sin against humanity. This is the reason why God does not give us the leaders that we want rather He gives us the leaders that we deserve. We have too many wicked people in Nigeria and until we learn to separate light from darkness:we will continue to grope in darkness.

God gave us Goodluck Jonathan and we ridiculed him with all manner of insult,we took him for granted, called him unprintable names, said he was too soft and God gave us an iron bender, obi akpo, ekwensu odu ogologo and the Nation is bleeding...

Another opportunity has come for us to pick a good man and we are vilifying him. If we make another mistake in 2023 like we did in 2015,2019,the pain will be times twenty and una go miss Buhari. God will still remain God and His sovereignty will be in tact . Our destiny is in our hands. A handful of people can never defeat over 100 million Nigerians. If you don't gerrit, forgerabourit.

BREAKING: Suspended Nnewi TC Boss—Mba Mba Arrested

The suspended Transition Committee Chairman of Nnewi North Local Government Area, Hon. Mbazulike Iloka, generally known as Mba Mba, who was accused of killing his wife in a case of domestic violence gone bad, has been arrested.

A source confirmed that Mba Mba is currently being detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Awka, Anambra State, under charges of culpable homicide.

His arrest, it was gathered, was consequent upon a petition by the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, (HURIWA) on Monday addressed to the Inspector-General of Police Usman Alkali Baba at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters.

It was reported that HURIWA dragged the suspended Nnewi North council boss to IGP Baba over issues bordering on domestic violence

Mba Mba had claimed that the deceased slumped and died on the fateful day while serving him food.

Source, however, alleged that his culpability over the death of his wife is not unconnected with his routine bashing of his wife before her death.

Police sources said they had commenced investigation into the matter.

The biggest country in Africa that the United Kingdom colonized is Nigeria. The biggest country that the United Kingdom colonized in Asia is India (which then comprised the present Pakistan and Bangladesh). When the UK came into Nigeria and India, like all other countries they colonized, they brought along their technology, religion (Christianity), and culture: names, dressing, food, language, etc.

Try as hard as the British did, India rejected the British religion, names, dressing, food, and even language, but they did not reject the British technology. Today, 80.5% of Indians are Hindus; 13.4% Muslims; 2.3% Christians; 1.9% Sikhs; 0.8% Buddhists, etc. Hindi is the official language of the government of India, but English is used extensively in business and administration and has the status of a “subsidiary official language.” It is rare to find an Indian with an English name or dressed in suit.

On the other hand, Nigeria embraced, to a large extent, the British religion, British culture – names, dressing, foods, and language – but rejected the British technology. The difference between the Nigerian and the Indian experiences is that while India is proud of its heritage, Nigeria takes little pride in its heritage, a situation that has affected the nationalism of Nigerians and our development as a nation. Before the advent of Christianity, the Arabs had brought Islam into Nigeria through the North. Islam also wiped away much of the culture of Northern Nigeria. Today, the North has only Sharia Courts but no Customary Courts. So from the North to the South of Nigeria, the Western World and the Eastern World have shaped our lives to be like theirs and we have lost much or all of our identity.

Long after the British and Arabs left Nigeria, Nigeria has waxed strong in religion to the extent that Nigerians now set up religious branches of their home-grown churches in Europe, the Americas, Asia and other African countries. Just like the Whites brought the gospel to us,
