We are working with Administrators in two districts on the island of Abaco, to advise and train key leaders in Disaster Preparedness and Management.

GM all. Apex is working on two national efforts. One is to have trained persons who are able to set up communications nodes in affected communities after a disaster. Secondly, we are expecting to set up a national training and certification in Emotional First Aid (EFA). The intent is to have local persons trained to respond to victims of traumatic events by providing care and nurture for the emotional side until trained professionals can come to provide help. These efforts are in conjunction with several NGO's and National authorities in the Bahamas.

The Managing Director has been assisting the International Organization for Migration (IOM), a UN organization, in conducting Seminars on various islands of the Bahamas on 1. Disaster Management Orientation, Hazard, Vulnerability, Assessment and Mapping (HVAM) for Communities and Fire Prevention and Safety. Response has been great.

Regina and I survived Dorian! Our house received some damage but is still standing. I continue activities to match resources against needs in the post Dorian reality.

I anticipate teaching a class at the International Convocation of the Church of God in Christ, in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. This class will be about Disaster Management and will encourage churches to start Disaster Ministries involving local congregations.
