Her Majesty the Her Majesty Queen Mother Tseyring Pem Wangchuck, the Co-chair of the Bhutan Foundation, donated medical equipment to the Ministry of Health today.

The donation includes an autoclave machine, 110 oxygen cylinders, a bio-decontamination machine, two medical trucks, and 17,368 N95 masks for medical use. The Foundation hopes this support will strengthen Bhutan's healthcare system in response to an increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the country.

This support is part of the $1 million in assistance USAID - US Agency for International Development provided to the Bhutan Foundation to strengthen Bhutan’s healthcare capacity for pandemic prevention, readiness, and response, and support microenterprises.

The activity is helping Bhutan increase its diagnostic laboratory capabilities and clinical case management, providing virtual training for health care providers and lab personnel, and developing communications materials on COVID-19.

𝐇𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐣𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐲'𝐬 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐌𝐲 𝐆𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐝𝐡 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥

Her Majesty Queen Mother Tseyring Pem Wangchuck met the students of MGV School and visited the ongoing construction of the MGV ECCD centre in Toedpisa Gewog under Punakha Dzongkhag.

Co-financed by UNICEF Bhutan, YDF is developing a model ECCD centre that will incorporate a place-based and STE(A)M approach. This is a special project of Her Majesty to pilot a new approach to education, which is inclusive and holistic. The visit was accompanied by HE Sherig Lyonpo, officials from the Ministry of Education, UNICEF Bhutan, Punakha Dzongkhag, and representatives from gewog.
