How much can you get from a hectare of onions?
Why do other farmers do onions from January to December and some not having a clue at all?
What does it take to get started?
landuse planning is the answer!
Did you know?
From ¼ of a hectare you can get 25 tonnes ?
Or 60- 100 tonnes on a single hectare!
1kg of onions has approximately 250k-300K seeds.
To achieve 60-100T in 1 ha, you need to have 100% germination, 100% transition, 100% survival and 100% bulbing with a uniformity and hence harvesting and an average of 100gms per bulb.
Literally it's not possible to get this uniformity and looking at the costs involved, you will therefore need 4kgs of seed to achieve this
And when you achieve this, Congratulations 🎊
At It's best with a capital injection of P80 000 per ha you're safe to get a Net return of P360 000 to P480 000
But!
It starts with Land use planning and Precision Farming!
Is it that SIMPLE 🤔
Certainly Not,
You need to get Knowledge, Discernment and understanding of how to produce and capitalise on the entire 365 days!
Mr Urban Farmer is the answer, let's get started!
With a land use and management plan!
