The Botswana Security and Fire Summit 2025 officially concluded today, marking the end of three power-packed days of innovation, collaboration, and forward-thinking at Boipuso Hall, Fairgrounds in Gaborone. Held from May 26โ28, the summit attracted over 1,000 professionals from across the region, uniting key players in the realms of security, fire safety, occupational health, risk management, and facilities management.
Guided by the theme; ๐น๐-๐ฐ๐๐๐๐๐๐, ๐น๐-๐ญ๐๐๐๐, ๐น๐-๐บ๐๐๐๐: ๐บ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ญ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐บ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐
๐บ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ฐ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ,the summit opened with a compelling keynote by The Acting Minister for State President, Honorable Maipelo Mophuting. She stressed that peace and security are vital to achieving Vision 2036, highlighting that security is not a privilege but a public good.
Mophuting announced government support for the proposed Botswana Security Excellence Academy, which aims to offer scholarships and practical training to ensure equal access to careers in security.
Participants engaged in a rich blend of keynote addresses, expert panel discussions, technical demonstrations, and networking sessions. Notable highlights included drone showcases by Ka P**a Drones and Drones for Africa, advanced product demonstrations from Hikvision and Dahua, and high-level insights into cybersecurity, digital payments, surveillance ethics, and workplace risk management.
From regional disaster preparedness to the digital transformation of safety protocols, the summit spotlighted cutting-edge technologies and practical strategies. Discussions tackled the aftermath of regional floods and wildfires, the rise of cyber threats, and the importance of professionalizing the security industry through regulation and training.
Organized by a strong committee including leaders from the Security Association of Botswana, Debswana, and BTC, the summit also served as a networking hub for private companies, government ministries, parastatals, academic institutions, and international delegations.
The event closed with an impactful vote of thanks and feedback session led by SAB Chairperson Samuel Kealotswe, reinforcing a shared commitment to building a resilient, secure Botswana. As delegates departed, one message rang clear: The journey to a safer, smarter, and more secure future has only just begun.
