This Earth Day, we’re proud to celebrate the power of collaboration and conservation.

Our IA team came together to plant trees at our archaeological reserves and give back to the environment. At Caracol, we worked closely with our partners to strengthen our established nursery and plant some trees in an effort to reforest areas that had been deforested, an initiative that highlights the importance in having a rich biodiversity and the vital role it plays in preserving this incredible landscape.

We’re excited to share that this nursery will soon be opened to the public, offering a space to learn, connect, and appreciate the importance of biodiversity.

We wish to acknowledge members of the Cayo Tour Guide Association for their to invaluable participation alongside the support of our partners and sponsors, this achievement reflects what’s possible when we work together for the planet.

Here’s to collaborations that help in growing a greener future, Our Power, Our Planet!

⚠️ PUBLIC NOTICE: Precaution on the approach to the Xunantunich Archaeological Reserve

The Institute of Archaeology advises Tour Operators, Tour Guides, and visitors that there are bees along the access road up to the Xunantunich Archaeological Reserve. All are advised to take precaution when visiting the site. We are working on removing the bees from the area.

We appreciate your patience as we work to complete this process.

A meaningful step toward conservation and sustainability has been achieved with the establishment of a new plant nursery at Caracol Archaeological Reserve. This initiative marks the beginning of strengthening environmental stewardship within Belize’s archaeological reserves, ensuring the preservation of its natural and cultural heritage for generations to come.

We extend our gratitude to our generous donors: BATSUB, Belize Wood Mark Designs Ltd, and SELVA Conservation; whose invaluable support made this project possible.

Special recognition is also due to the dedicated volunteers from the Cayo Tour Guide Association, who worked along our IA staff: Jehiel Tut, Jeisy Martinez, Sonia Burgos, Wilder Gutierrez, Jonathan Ayala, Rudolph Sanchez, Miguel Manzanero, and CTGA President Mr. Jorge De Leon.

Together, through collaboration and shared commitment, we continue to nurture both nature and heritage at Caracol. 🌿🏛️
