🥚 Finding eggs on the floor at collection time? Your lighting could be part of the problem.
Hens aren't being stubborn. They're following instinct, and instinct says to lay in a quiet, sheltered, dimmer spot. If your nests aren't the most appealing spot in the barn, hens will pick somewhere else.
Three things to look at:
💡 Light intensity: the nest should be the dimmest spot
💡 Light distribution: dark patches on the floor attract hens
💡 Light timing: a gradual morning start gives hens time to reach the nests
Our latest blog post walks through all three and includes a simple checklist for your barn. Floor eggs don't have to be something you live with.
