🌲New Year. New Look. Same Roots. 🌲

PRT started in 1971 with a small group of people who believed in the power of a single seed. Today, we are North America's leading seedling provider—and it’s all thanks to the incredible people behind the plants. 👩‍🔬👨‍🌾

We’re starting 2026 with a fresh new look, but the same dedication to quality, science, and the environment. We aren't just growing trees; we're growing a legacy for future generations.

Happy New Year from all of us at PRT! 🌲🎉

🐊 Sometimes nature has its own plans! During our Controlled Mass Polination (CMP) season at Evans, an unexpected visitor, an alligator, made an appearance. It’s a reminder of the vibrant ecosystems surrounding our work!

🌸Did you know? These delicate flowers developing inside our CMP bags will soon become cones, producing our high quality CMP seed.

Here’s how it works:
🌲We start by selecting parent trees with superior traits—like disease resistance, straightness, and fast growth.
🌲Pollen is collected from male cones of these top performers.
🌲 Female cones are bagged to protect them from unwanted pollen.
🌲 When ready, we introduce our carefully selected pollen to the bagged cones.
🌲 After fertilization, the bags are removed and the cones mature—now carrying the next generation of high-quality seeds.

It’s a fascinating glimpse into the lifecycle of our seed production process!

📸We’re thrilled to share the winning shot from this year’s PRT Photo Contest:

“Sunrise Over Seedlings” captured by Van Troxell, Nursery Supervisor at our Jesup Nursery in Southeast USA, featuring our 2024 crop of loblolly pine.

This stunning image perfectly captures the early morning light over a new generation of trees, a reminder of the beauty and purpose behind what we grow every day.

At PRT, we grow hundreds of millions of seedlings annually to help restore and sustain forests across North America. It’s moments like this that show how powerful (and peaceful) this work can be.

Stay tuned for more behind-the-scenes views from our various sites!

We’re thrilled to see seedlings from a recent PRT/IFCO donation put to such great use.🌱

We donated Loblolly Pine and Longleaf Pine seedlings to our partners at Southeastern Timber Products, who brought them to students across Mississippi. At each school, the team also read the book Family Trees—making for a fun and educational day!

We love seeing our seedlings support community outreach like this. A simple tree can inspire curiosity, connection, and a love for forestry at an early age. 🌲

Check out these adorable photos from the day!

🌿 PRT at the Skwlāx te Secwepemcúl̓ecw Job & Career Fair 🌿

We were honoured to participate in the 2nd Annual Job & Career Fair hosted by Skwlāx te Secwepemcúl̓ecw at the beautiful Quaaout Lodge & Spa at Talking Rock Golf Resort in Chase, BC.

It was a great day connecting with community members, sharing employment opportunities at PRT, and learning more about the incredible talent in the region.

Thank you to the organizers and all who stopped by to learn more about forestry careers and reforestation. We're proud to support local opportunities and continue building strong relationships with First Nations communities.

Did you know? IFCO Seedlings is now part of the PRT family!

While the acquisition happened two years ago, it’s an important part of our story—and one we’re proud to share. IFCO’s strong legacy in the Southeast, combined with PRT’s expertise and scale, means we’re here to support all your seedling needs from coast to coast.

Together, we’re growing over 630 million seedlings every year, with 29 nursery facilities, 14 seed orchards, and the capacity to grow 1 billion seedlings every 18 months. (That’s a lot of trees!) 🌱

Whether you know us as PRT or IFCO, we’re the same dedicated team—committed to helping you grow healthy, resilient forests. 🌲
