Allow me to reintroduce myself.....this “then” to “now” transition has been such journey.

From deciding to put myself out there and building a brand, to the lessons within it, and so many life events that shaped and shifted direction, to now being in this space where I feel safe to embrace my wild 🐆 and step into new adventures. Dezign Creative as you know it is about to go through a MAJOR glow up. And I can’t wait to share what I’m up to 🦋

Life is a whirlwind full of trials and lessons and challenges. But it is also a place filled with joy and growth and love. So. Much. Love. One cannot exist without the other. What gets you through it all? The friends around you to keep shining a light on possibilities. So that you can in turn shine that light on others too.

Embrace life.
Absorb it.
Live it loudly. Proudly.
Be authentically you.

Trust that great things can happen. Make those great things happen. For and with others. For you. Be someone’s mirror to shine a light on their own untapped greatness. Let them explore it. Encourage them to chase their dreams. Chase yours too. Cheer each other on.

Thankful for those who have transformed my life and in turn allowed me the gift of being a part of theirs. I end tonight’s rant with a genuine smile, hope and optimism for all that is yet to come. This is me. Hello, world. 💝

When anyone asks me what I’m up to for the Holidays…. Tell me you can relate! 😂
But seriously though
I’ve been processing some big things this week. End of year gets me all kinds of feelings. I remember where I was this time last year, the years before it… and today. I remember what I’ve learned and come to understand. And the things I’ve accepted I may never know. But also, have reflected big time on what I can carry over into the next year, and what should stay behind.
Here’s my short list…
✅ hope, optimism, growth, gratitude
✅ love, kindness, wonder, adventure
❌ playing small, forgetting my worth
❌ any variation of toxicity that tries to come between the rays of sunshine and sparkle that make me feel authentic
Today I want to ask…what are YOU choosing to carry over into the new year?

When one of your childhood icons (and to this date one of my absolute role models when it comes to making a legacy out of making magic for others and raising an entire generation in healthy media) reaches out and says “it’s me and you!”….
Simply no words to explain how much I beamed at this gesture. you are an absolute queen. Remember when we were just talking about tiktok? And now look! 🥹😍…. So amazed by your creativity and genius.

An absolutely beautiful week spent with the most wonderful of people. So many laughs and memories shared this week. I can’t remember a birthday like this in so…. So long. Thank you all for being the most supportive and kind and incredible souls and thanks to every single person who took a moment to make this week as special as it was

When I tell you the look of disbelief that came across my face when I found out I was nominated for a community award….wow!!! 😭
You see, I’ve spent the last few months in such self doubt. Questioning my worth. Wondering if I still provide value to my community. If I can still sprinkle kindness your way and cheer for you as I always have. You all have breathed life into me in more words than I can ever express. You’ve helped me believe in myself again. I’m so grateful. This new chapter of my life has been scary and isolating - and yet you’ve embraced me though it. Thank you. 💖
Tonight I was nominated for the “Influencer of the Year” award within my community of fierce mamas and makers and humans.
I’ve never considered myself that I always I’m just simply Dez. 🤷🏻‍♀️ In fact, that’s what inspired my Tiktok start. 😂

Who knew that a little ✨enchanted butterfly ✨would inspire such a transformation and change within me?

An opportunity to step out of my comfort zone - and sing and dance and feel joy again in a way I can’t find the words to adequately explain. 🚪

Her story hits home in a thousand ways - the feeling of not quite fitting in, of not seeing your own worth in comparison to the shine and success of those around you. The feeling of never measuring up to expectations. The constant fear of letting others down - or not making them proud. The feeling of wanting a chance to show yourself you’re so much more than you constantly tell yourself. 🙌🏼

It’s also a story about bravery. About boundaries. About repairing the cracks in the foundations of our relationships. Of hope. Of remembering we are uniquely wonderful and gifted. We are enough as we are. For who we are. 🦋.

What a blessing it has been to be given the gift, the Encanto, of a once in a lifetime opportunity to help share this beautiful story to little ones. These little humans have wanted connection more than ever these past few years. They’ve resonated with this movie and embraced it fully regardless of age or gender. What an amazing opportunity to get to know their familia as this quirky and brave butterfly visits their casita 🏠 🌸💕🦋.

I can’t be the only one who literally had to challenge herself to NOT open this month. No matter how on point the targeted ads got 😂😂 (Ps. I caved and opened it BUT I didn’t order anything! Hooray!)
That being said, I’m overdue for restocking on a couple of things and wanted to get YOUR input. When it comes to shampoo, what do you use to give you that volume and luscious look? I find my hair often looks dry or dirty even after washing it. Also, what is your favourite volume spray and heat protectant when styling?

What a change a year brings. This year - school is an entirely new adventure to navigate together. In person. Online. How do you choose? What did you choose?
I am hopeful that things will fall into place as they should and that our governments and educators will reach an agreement that helps them feel safe and prepared for this new normal. I pray we don’t fall into a second wave that requires a shutdown. I worry that this will happen. That my little one’s heart will break to be away from her friends and environment once again.
The decision to return to the learning environment, as a staff member or as a parent making the decision for a child isn’t an easy one. There is no “right” answer. It’s all a domino effect. I pray for empathy, compassion and Community. That we all stay focused on why it’s important to band together and eradicate this season in our lives. Keep each other safe. Slow the spread. And get back to a healthy province and country and world.
It takes everyone working towards the same goal.

Our future. Their future. Depends on what happens next. So many things to consider in the “lessons” 2020 has brought on. .

One thing is for sure. Kindness reigns. So before you judge another or hold an opinion on why they should or shouldn’t do something. Stop. And think. Are your words kind? Is their intent kind? And if the answer is remotely close to “no” - please consider going back to the drawing board.
