Entrepreneurship can get loud.
Everyone has an opinion about what you should be doing. Add this. Pivot there. Try that trend.

You have worked hard to carve out your niche and refine it. The real risk isn’t failure — it’s distraction. The moment you start giving time to things that don’t align, you lose focus and momentum from your core business.

In the last week, four business owners shared, they felt more confident and reassured about their business directions after our conversations.

That’s the power of having an unbiased, confidential voice in your thought process.

Years ago, if I had listened to everyone who thought what I was doing was short lived, "why bother Jan, you have a job" -- I wouldn't be living the freedom lifestyle now, and helping others in their journey.

Ever been asked if your work as an entrepreneur is just a hobby?

Recently, someone I had literally just met for the first time, asked me, "do you actually make money at what you do?"

Balls-ey, agreed. Yet interesting question.

👉Would YOU ask someone with a job, 'do you actually make money during your hours working for that business you go into every day.'

It made me rethink how we label 'work' ... and value 'set-hours' over 'DIY hours.'

So I'll ask the question to fellow entrepreneurs and business owners.

Why call a revenue-generating venture a 'side hustle' when it's truly a business and it's where you 'work' and 'earn.'

Perhaps we need to shift our mindset and give entrepreneurial pursuits the value they deserve. It’s not JUST a side gig, you dabble in—it's your commitment to your industry, opportunity to support others, and absolutely your $$ freedom lifestyle livelihood.

Keep working hard, loving the DIY hours and never needing to quantify why you choose the 'work' that you do.

Setting intentions as a business owner - a new year is the perfect time.

If you aren't setting aside some time to define your intentions, it’s easy to slip back into old habits.

📍You stay busy, but nothing really shifts. Comfort takes over.
The status quo stays put. (often the case)

When things feel uncomfortable or a little off, don’t rush past it. That feeling is often a sign you’re moving into something new. Growth rarely feels neat and tidy, before it feels right.

Intentions (goals) give you something to anchor to when the noise shows up. They keep you focused when it would be easier to slide back than move forward.

✔️Write them down.
Whiteboard. Journal. Post-it.

Keep it simple: • One daily intention — how you show up or something you will do every day for consistency of new habits.
• One monthly goal — where you are heading. What you want to achieve monthly.
Make the time. This matters to scaling your best entrepreneurial self.

That’s where the shift begins.

2025 was full—stunning travel, small towns, shared tables, and the kindest, most talented people, everywhere.

It was also a quieter year behind the scenes, walking alongside someone I love dearly in the fight of their life.

2025 didn’t ask me to do less.

It asked me to be more present.
To arrive fully.
To listen longer.
To be available.
To sit in the moments that happen between the destinations.

Whether we are travelling abroad, discovering agriculture, working with business clients or telling the story of a community—presence is now the pace.

That’s the rhythm we will carry into 2026 and everything we do.

As entrepreneurs, it’s easy to get lost in the hustle, but I’ve learned that balance and clarity in goals comes when we step back, put down the device, and get quiet with nature ... Whatever that means to you.

Growing food, tending to gardens, walking in nature ... these all support staying grounded in values, and spending time with the people who matter most. It's not only good for the soul—it’s the foundation of true body + mind wellness.

As an entrepreneur you are always giving, therefore filling your cup, is essential to the balance.

When we nurture what’s close to home, everything else grows stronger.

I took time with my MIL this weekend's sharing time outside walking in the gardens. We slowed it down together. Was amazing!
