Not all Mondays look like this. 🙏

I remember when work used to take almost all of my time. As an immigrant parent, I honestly thought that was just how life was going to be here in Canada , work every day and wait until retirement to finally enjoy life.

Now, I’m just thankful for simple moments like this… spending a Monday afternoon walking and biking with my daughter ❤️

Sharing this because I know a lot of parents are doing their best right now. Just know that things can change, and there are other ways to create more time for the people you love most. 🙌

Generational wealth isn’t always millions in the bank.

Minsan it starts with one immigrant parent deciding…

“Hindi habang buhay puro survive mode lang.”

Kasi let’s be real…

Marami sa atin grew up believing na:
Work harder.
Take more shifts.
Get another job.
Repeat.

And while there’s nothing wrong with hard work…

What if the real game changer is learning new skills, building a new mindset, and changing the old beliefs we grew up with about money?

Because our kids are watching.

They’re watching how we handle struggles.
How we talk about money.
How we choose to grow instead of staying stuck.

Hindi man tayo lumaki with opportunities…
pero pwede tayo maging first sa pamilya na gumawa ng ibang path.

Not just for us.
But for them too.

Because sometimes the biggest thing we pass down isn’t money first…

It’s possibility.

Hanggang kailan ka papayag na trabaho ang nakakakuha ng pinaka-best na oras mo… habang yung pamilya mo ang naghihintay?

Alam ko yung pakiramdam ng immigrant parent na pagod na pagod…
pero tuloy lang kasi kailangan.

Long hours.
Missed moments.
Pag-uwi, tulog agad.

Pero one day, mapapaisip ka rin:

“Ganito na lang ba habang buhay?”

The good news?
Hindi lang 2–3 jobs ang option natin.

May ibang paraan para kumita habang may full-time work.
At minsan, isang simpleng video lang ang kailangan para magbukas yung isip mo sa ibang possibility.

Kung gusto mo ng extra income…
pero mas gusto mo ring maging present sa pamilya mo habang lumalaki mga anak mo—

Message mo lang ako.
Baka ito na yung sign na hinihintay mo.

3 signs you might feel stuck…
kahit sobrang sipag mo na as an immigrant parent

1. Puro trabaho, pero parang walang usad
Gising maaga, work, uwi pagod… repeat.
Minsan napapaisip ka—“Ganito na lang ba lagi?”
Hindi dahil tamad ka… kundi kasi wala tayong time mag-grow, puro survive lang.

2. “Deserve ko to” kasi pagod na pagod ka na
After a long shift, derecho couch… konting Netflix para makalimot sa pagod.
Deserve mo naman talaga.
Pero minsan, yun na lang din nagiging routine… hanggang walang nagbabago.

3. YOLO… pero wala ka nang energy to enjoy life
“You only live once”… pero ubos ka na araw-araw.
Work, bills, pagod.
Minsan kahit kasama mo pamilya mo, pagod ka pa rin.

Kaya minsan iniisip ko…
YODO — You Only Die Once.
Ayoko dumating sa point na puro trabaho lang naalala ko.
Gusto ko rin ma-experience yung buhay… kasama pamilya ko.

Hindi madali magbago agad.
Pero kahit maliit na step… baka yun na yung simula na hinahanap mo.

Yung barko ni Noah — walang manibela, walang timon.

Meaning?
Wala siyang control sa direction… pero sumunod pa rin siya kay God.

Real talk…

Parang tayo rin as immigrant parents dito sa Canada.

Dumating tayo dito na hindi sure sa future.
Ang dala lang natin faith na “God will provide.”

Pero ngayon?

Na-stuck na tayo sa routine…
work, overtime, bills, repeat.

Kahit may opportunity na dumaan…
naghe-hesitate tayo.
Kasi mas “safe” yung sanay na kahit kapalit, less time sa pamilya.

Minsan kahit Sunday na, nag-o-overtime pa rin tayo…
kahit yun na lang sana yung hinihingi ni God yung time natin.

We try to control everything…
pero deep down, pagod na tayo.

Minsan kailangan lang natin maalala
hindi tayo yung may control.

God is.

Hindi mo kailangan makita buong plano.
Kailangan mo lang magtiwala… at gumalaw.

Noong bagong dating kami dito sa Canada…
grind mode talaga.

I was working 10–15 hours a day.
Hindi dahil gusto ko… kundi yun lang ang alam kong way para maka-survive.

Akala ko normal lang yun.

Then one day, sinabi ng anak ko:
“Dad, kailan ka pupunta sa school ko?”

That hit me hard.
Wala akong nasabi… tahimik lang.

Dun ako napaisip—
ganito na lang ba lagi?
Work, pagod, tulog… repeat?

So I started looking for another option.
Yung pwede kahit may full-time job ako.

Then one parent, just like us, shared a free video.
Simple lang, no pressure.
Dun ako nag start.

Hindi ko agad na-gets lahat…
pero I just kept going.

And dun ko na-realize—
hindi lang pala 2–3 jobs ang option natin as immigrant parents.

Now, we have choices.
Nasa phone lang natin.
We just need to take action and keep learning.

Kung mahal mo trabaho mo…
pero pagod ka na sa long hours—

Before starting any business, especially an online business, one thing is non-negotiable: research and due diligence.

Hindi ito tungkol sa hype or sabi-sabi.
This is about knowing what you’re getting into.

You need to study:
• The industry – growing ba or dying?
• The legitimacy – legit ba talaga or may red flags?
• The market size – may totoong customers ba?

A lot of full-time working parents tell me,
“I want to start a business, but I’m scared.”

And that fear is valid.

Pagod ka na sa work. May bills. May pamilya.
You can’t afford to gamble on something you don’t understand. Most of the fear comes from lack of clarity, not lack of courage.

That’s why learning first matters.
Clarity builds confidence, and confidence leads to smart decisions.

Hindi mo kailangang pumasok agad.
Kailangan mo munang mag-decide ng tama.
