🔥 What if the foundation of Canada’s values has always been incomplete?

Mark Carney’s Values asked what drives our nation’s moral compass — but it missed the original values that shaped this land long before colonization: Indigenous values.

That’s where Jim Tanner’s upcoming book steps in.
Born from decades of work alongside Nations across Canada, this book brings forward the truths that were left out — values of land, reciprocity, sovereignty, and respect.

At Twin River Consulting, we’re not just continuing the conversation. We’re changing it.

Stay tuned — this release is going to challenge how people see Canada, leadership, and what “values” really mean.

🧡 Every Child Matters – Orange Shirt Day (Sept. 30) 🧡

On September 30, we wear orange to honour the children who never came home and the survivors of the residential school system. This day is a reminder of the harms our country has inflicted, and also a call to listen, learn, and heal.

For Twin River Consulting, this day carries even more weight.

My father, Jim Tanner, has spent his life walking with Nations across Canada, documenting Traditional Land Use Studies, defending Indigenous rights, and preserving knowledge.

For me, April Tanner, this work is deeply personal — it’s part of my journey in learning what being Cree means, reconnecting with heritage, and helping carry that truth forward.

We honour survivors, remember those lost, and reaffirm our commitment to truth, reconciliation, and Indigenous values.

🧡 Wear orange. Speak truth. Act in solidarity.

🔥 What Carney Missed, Jim Tanner Has Written 🔥

Mark Carney’s book Values made waves by exploring economics, leadership, and guiding principles. But for all its insight, it missed something essential: Indigenous values.

That omission is not small — it leaves out the voices, wisdom, and worldviews that have sustained Nations across this land for thousands of years.

Jim Tanner’s upcoming book answers that silence. Rooted in decades of work alongside Nations across Canada, this book brings forward the values that Carney did not — values of land, sovereignty, reciprocity, and respect.

If Values started the conversation, Jim’s book deepens it with the truths that must guide our shared future.

At Twin River Consulting, our story is one of both legacy and discovery.

For Jim Tanner, it’s a lifetime of research and advocacy, walking alongside Nations across Canada and publishing Traditional Land Use Studies that protect knowledge and strengthen sovereignty.

For April Tanner, it’s not only about carrying forward the work Jim has built, but also about learning her own Cree heritage and what it means to live out that identity in today’s world.

Together, we are honored to serve communities with respect, relationship, and responsibility.

We are honored to share the story and work of Twin River Consulting, led by Jim Tanner and April Tanner.

Twin River Consulting was founded on Jim’s lifelong commitment to Indigenous rights, research, and advocacy. With decades of experience, Jim has guided the company through meaningful partnerships with Nations across Canada, publishing several Traditional Land Use Studies—including with Piapot First Nation, Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation, and Shoal Lake Cree Nation, to name a few.

Today, Jim and April work together as lead consultants, blending experience, relationship-building, and a vision for sovereignty and self-determination. Their work continues to grow out of the belief that every project should honor community voices, respect cultural traditions, and create tools for future generations.

✨ At Twin River Consulting, our mission is simple: to walk alongside Nations, supporting them in preserving knowledge, protecting lands, and strengthening their stories for generations to come.

We look forward to sharing more of our journey, projects, and community partnerships here. Thank you for welcoming us into your circle.
