Meet Ben, Senior Account Manager at SmartShield, and all-round super colleague, who’s been here since the early days. We sat down for a chat...
❓What’s it been like seeing the business grow?
A fun ride! I’m still surrounded by many of the same people I worked with back at the beginning. It’s been an incredible journey for us. Sometimes things get a bit challenging but it’s always rewarding seeing things grow and improve. The SmartShield team attract the exact kind of accounts I love to manage.
❓What are the biggest challenges day to day?
With our company expanding rapidly there’ve been times that the team has been stretched beyond reasonable limits! But pulling together has always been a strength of Team SmartShield. In a way, every new project presents a different challenge. For me, it might mean getting in a truck and making a delivery - or starting early and working a few hours in production in order to hit a quickly approaching deadline.
❓What’s the best piece of advice you've picked up while working at SmartShield?
Don't take everything so deadly seriously!
❓What three words would your teammates use to describe you?
It might be more appropriate to ask my teammates this question!

“Ben is super invested and passionate about what he does, and he always goes above and beyond to make his customers smile. He’s easy going and always willing to lend a hand - even coming in on a Saturday to work in the Woodshop and Foam Department. He brought in pizza and coffee for all the overtime staff working on a Saturday recently.
❓What does being part of the extended family behind SmartShield mean to you?
I’m deeply committed, and want to see the company grow and provide opportunities for many more future team members. I do this by advocating on behalf of the customers to the team and advocating on behalf of the team to the customers. I also love looking for opportunities to improve our products and services to make our customers smile.
❓What’s something people might not realise about working here day-to-day?
I’m not sure if SmartShield employees are aware of how much the company invests into Charity to benefit the wider local community.
❓What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Volunteering and charity work - this often involves barbequing! I like to get out and explore nature and hike. I also enjoy playing with my tools, either renovating at home or creating something for fun.
❓What’s your go-to way to unwind after a busy week?
Spending time with my grandson. He loves to get out and play disc golf and I love to go with him.
❓If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
I’d love to have the power to make everyone happy, because happy people are easy to be around!
