What an incredible few days at the 4th Annual Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) Atlantic Network Conference in Halifax!

From the engaging conversations at DealSource North’s Atlantic debut to the insightful panel discussions at the Conference on major infrastructure initiatives, AI and digital transformation, cross-border M&A and more, this year’s event truly highlighted the strength and momentum within Atlantic Canada’s business community.

Our team, Jeff MacKenzie, Bob Brown, and Patrik Landry, had a fantastic time connecting with investors, capital providers, advisors, and entrepreneurs from across the region and beyond. Kudos to this year's Conference Co-Chairs Jack Dallaire and Jillian Murray for leading a great event, and a thank you to the panelists and moderators who made the sessions so valuable.

Over the course of the retreat, our discussions centred on how we can continue to create greater value for our clients, from helping business owners navigate the current M&A landscape and prepare for successful exits to exploring new strategies that drive stronger outcomes and long-term growth.

In the past 3 years, only 55% of the businesses we’ve worked with sold because of retirement.

Compare that with the 7 years before, when nearly 80% of our transactions were retirement-driven.

👋 Meet Bob Brown, Partner at Confederation M&A!

Bob’s journey into M&A wasn’t exactly traditional, but it’s one that shaped the values, grit, and perspective he brings to every client engagement.

After graduating from St. Thomas University (CA) in Fredericton, with degrees in Arts and Education (and five extra years of university hockey), Bob took an unexpected leap into the business world. What followed was a dynamic career path: ten years with Irving Oil, five in commercial leasing, a short-lived (but memorable) stint in IT, years in commercial real estate and the lottery sector, and a venture into startup life.

Every stop along the way taught Bob something new and prepared him for the work he does now: helping business owners navigate the most significant transaction of their lives. For the past nine years at Confederation M&A, he’s been doing just that with insight, empathy, and the kind of loyalty that turns clients into lifelong friends.
