Leadership Lesson From Cartagena

Organizations sometimes fall into two traps—“We’ve always done it this way” versus “Everything old needs to change.”

Neither is good example of change management.

The better question is:
What is still serving us?
What needs strengthening?
And what does change look like?

How many times have you tried to say the right thing—carefully choosing your words, thinking through the message, and making sure your intentions were clear…

ONLY to have it land poorly and the other person react negatively?
Welcome to the gap between INTENTION and IMPACT.

As a coach, I challenge my clients to debrief these moments—not defensively, but with curiosity.

Instead of immediately thinking, “That’s not what I meant,” I encourage them to ask:
Why did it land that way?
What might they have heard or experienced differently than I intended?
What can I learn from their reaction?

Because good intentions matter—but they don’t always guarantee good impact.
The real opportunity for growth comes when we’re willing to examine the space between the two.

Curious? Willing to learn more?

Welcome to my Intention to Impact Framework.

Recently, I challenged myself to answer one question
Why do I believe in organizational growth?

I realized everything I do comes back to one philosophy.
✨ Organizations thrive when they invest equally in their people, their leadership, and the systems that support them.
-Strong leaders matter.
-Engaged teams matter.
-Fair, transparent systems matter.
-When one is missing, organizations struggle.
-When all three work together, organizations thrive.

That realization has helped me better define the work I'm passionate about.
It's why I coach leaders.
It's why I facilitate team workshops.
It's why I review HR practices.
It's why I speak about organizational culture.
It's why I mediate unresolved conflicts.

Over the coming weeks, I'll be sharing more about this philosophy and the framework I've been developing:
✨ From Intention to Impact.

What do you think is the biggest barrier for your organizational growth?

I asked my mom a simple question: ‘Where would you like to travel this year?’ She smiled and said, ‘Iceland.’”

That answer became much more than a vacation.

Over the past two weeks, I’ve shared leadership lessons inspired by the beauty, resilience, and landscapes of Iceland. As I reflected on our journey, I realized there was another lesson unfolding throughout the trip.

It reinforced that VISH isn’t just a leadership framework for the workplace. It’s a way of showing up in every relationship.

Value the people in your life and the dreams they still have.

Inspire by asking simple questions.

Support others as they pursue what matters to them.

Hear not only what people say, but what matters most.

Whether we’re leading teams, raising families, or strengthening relationships, our greatest impact comes from making people feel valued, inspired, supported, and heard.

Who in your life could benefit from a little more VISH today?

Leadership Lesson #6

The most successful communities don’t stand still—they evolve. Fishing villages have learned to honour their heritage while adapting to new opportunities like tourism.

⭐️Great leaders do the same. They stay true to their purpose while adjusting to the changing needs of the people they serve.

What adjustments have you made?

Leadership Lesson: Evolving Like Iceland #5

isn’t standing still. Every year, the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates move a little farther apart. The land shifts, cracks form, volcanoes erupt—and yet, from that constant movement, new land is created.

What is the The leadership lesson?

People grow. Teams change. Markets evolve. Technology advances. If we try to hold everything exactly as it is, we create pressure and stress that eventually breaks.

Great leaders don’t fear movement—they expect it.They adapt. They learn. they evolve!

Leadership Lesson from : Consider what is below the surface….

Iceland’s glaciers remind us of a powerful truth: what you see is only a small part of the whole. Like an iceberg, people have countless unseen layers beneath the surface—experiences, challenges, motivations, and untapped potential.

Before you judge a behaviour or an employee -take time to understand who they really are…..

07/09/2026

reminds us that resilience isn’t about standing still—it’s about adapting.

Change is inevitable in every organization.
The question isn’t if change will come… it’s whether you’re ready to lead through it.

Are you adaptable?
How do you help others embrace uncertainty?
What leadership skill do you need to strengthen so you can guide your team with confidence?
