“How much does a renovation cost?”
It’s usually the first question homeowners ask.
A rough price per square foot can give you a starting point, but it doesn’t tell us enough to give you a realistic answer.
Before we talk numbers, we need to understand 4 things:
1. What matters most?
If the budget doesn’t cover your entire wish list, where do you want to spend your money?
Better layout? Updated electrical or plumbing? Higher-end finishes? More functional space?
Knowing your priorities helps us spend the budget where it will make the biggest difference.
2. How will the renovation affect your life?
Renovating your only bathroom may mean finding another place to shower.
Losing your kitchen for a few weeks may mean more takeout or setting up a temporary kitchen.
Those expenses aren’t necessarily on your construction quote, but they still affect your overall renovation budget.
3. How much are we changing?
New flooring, cabinets, and fixtures are one thing.
Moving walls, relocating plumbing, upgrading electrical, or making structural changes is another.
The scope matters.
4. What are you comfortable investing?
You don’t need to know what everything costs. That’s our job.
But knowing your investment range allows us to have an honest conversation about what we can realistically accomplish within it.
And you don’t need professional plans to start.
