Regenerative injection therapies are a group of minimally invasive medical treatments that use biologically active substances to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes, particularly for musculoskeletal injuries and chronic pain.

They involve injecting solutions or biologic materials directly into damaged or painful tissues (such as joints, ligaments, tendons, or muscles) with the goal of reducing pain, improving function, and promoting tissue repair.

Key Features

Regenerative focus: Instead of just masking pain, they aim to restore or enhance the body’s ability to heal itself.

Injection-based: Delivered through targeted injections guided by palpation, ultrasound, or fluoroscopy.

Biologic or stimulatory agents: Can include natural substances from the patient’s own body (autologous) or other biologically active compounds.

Common Types

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP): Uses concentrated platelets from the patient’s blood, rich in growth factors that support healing.

Prolotherapy: Involves injection of an irritant solution (often dextrose) to stimulate repair of connective tissues.

Clinical Applications

Osteoarthritis

Tendinopathies (e.g., tennis elbow, Achilles tendinopathy)

Ligament injuries

Chronic back or neck pain related to spinal structures

🌿 SELF-CARE IS HEALTHCARE 🌿
Self-care isn’t selfish, and it isn’t something we should only prioritize once we’re already exhausted, overwhelmed, or burnt out.
It’s part of taking care of our health.
And while bubble baths, spa days, and vacations can absolutely be part of self-care, sometimes it looks much simpler:
✨ Getting enough sleep
✨ Moving your body in a way that feels good
✨ Eating foods that nourish you
✨ Spending time outside
✨ Taking a break without feeling guilty
✨ Setting boundaries
✨ Saying “no” when your plate is already full
✨ Making time for the people and things that bring you joy
✨ Putting your phone down and actually being present
✨ Asking for help when you need it
✨ Giving yourself permission to rest

We often spend so much time taking care of everyone and everything around us that our own needs slowly move to the bottom of the list.

But you don’t have to earn rest.

You don’t have to wait until you’re running on empty to take care of yourself.

Self-care is about creating small, consistent habits that support your physical, mental, and emotional health — before your body starts demanding that you slow down.

So here’s your reminder today:
Take the walk.
Drink the water.
Go to bed earlier.
Set the boundary.
Book the appointment.
Take the day off.
Do something simply because it makes you happy. ❤️

Your health deserves a place on your own priority list, too.

What’s one thing you’re doing for yourself this week? 🌿

Repost

Cortisone is NOT the answer for all your pain issues.
It is important to get a proper diagnosis and treatment in order to allow your injury to heal.

Regenerative injection therapies (Prolotherapy, PRP, neural therapy) are also options that need to be discussed

Book an appointment for your pain management consultation with Dr. Heather van der Geest, ND

What is NAD? Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD)

NAD is a coenzyme that repairs and restores the body and mind. It helps the liver break down fats that are essential to provide energy for the body. It also helps create ATP, which is a major source of energy for the cell. NAD maintains the DNA integrity and reverses cell damage.

⚬NAD is naturally found in every cell of the body and helps to repair mitochondrial function
⚬NAD maintains DNA integrity and reverses cellular damage
⚬NAD levels decline with age
⚬NAD IV therapy is a highly efficient treatment of delivering NAD and a mix of complimentary vitamins directly into the bloodstream.

Benefits of NAD IV Therapy include:
🧠 Brain Health
🧬 Anti-aging/ Repairs your DNA
🔋 Increased Energy Levels (decreased fatigue)
🦠 Metabolic Function

When NAD is given in an IV, it goes straight into the bloodstream and cellular tissue. This allows for almost 100% absorption of NAD and a mix of complimentary vitamins, because nothing is lost to digestion

To learn more about NAD, and see if this therapy is right for you- book an appointment.

Water Bottles: What's the difference between a RE-USABLE bottle and a PLASTIC bottle?
It is ideal to use a re-usable (non-plastic; BPA-free) water bottle.
The chemicals in plastic (especially when exposed to heat) can leach into the water you are drinking.

The exposure to BPA chemicals in plastic can have harmful effects on a person's health such as:
⚉ Hormone dysregulation- BPA binds to estrogen receptors (due to its similar structure to the hormone estrogen) and influences the growth, cell repair, fetal development, energy levels and reproduction.
⚉ Interact with other hormone receptors such as Thyroid, altering the thyroid's function
⚉ BPA can have an affect on fertility (in both males and females). Causing lower s***m concentration, lower s***m count and erectile difficulty in males and lower egg production in females
⚉ BPA exposure may also be linked to: obesity, PCOS, asthma, abnormal liver enzyme function and impaired brain function

With the summer heat, make sure to drink enough water, stay hydrated and use a re-usable NON-PLASTIC water bottle. Your body will thank you 💛
