We often treat exhaustion like it’s just part of being a caregiver.

It’s not.

Sleep deprivation affects your physical health, mental health, patience, concentration, and ability to care for others.

You deserve support before you reach burnout. ❤️

If any of this resonates with you or someone you love, feel free to send me a message. Together, we can explore what support might look like for your unique situation. 🌙

One of my favourite things about this work is getting to put on my favourite outfit (my scrubs 🤭) and head out to connect with families. ❤️

Every family, every person, and every story is different. I never take for granted the trust it takes to invite someone into your world, and I feel grateful every time I have the opportunity to meet new people and learn how I can help support them.

Today is one of those days. ♥️

Why Would Someone Need a Night Nurse?

Most people don’t think about overnight support until they’re exhausted, overwhelmed, recovering, or trying to care for someone they love while functioning on very little sleep.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse, I provide awake overnight nursing and respite support in the comfort of your home for newborns, children, adults, seniors, and caregivers who need rest, reassurance, or an extra set of hands through the night.

The truth is, needing support isn’t a sign that you’re failing. Sometimes it simply means you need a village. ❤️

❤️ Newborn & Postpartum Support

The early weeks with a new baby can be beautiful, but they can also be exhausting.

Overnight support may include:
• Feeding support (bottle feeding, paced feeding, bringing baby to parent for breastfeeding)
• Diaper changes
• Soothing and settling baby back to sleep
• Newborn monitoring and observation
• Bottle washing and preparation for the next day
• Baby laundry and light baby-related tasks if time allows
• Support following evidence-based safe sleep recommendations
• Education and reassurance for new parents
• Helping reduce sleep deprivation and caregiver burnout
• Support during postpartum recovery, including after C-section or complicated deliveries

The goal is simple: helping parents get the rest they need to recover and care for their family.

❤️ Children

Some children need a little extra support overnight.

This may include:
• Frequent waking
• Illness recovery
• Sleep difficulties
• Anxiety at bedtime or overnight
• Nightmares or night terrors
• Monitoring while parents get uninterrupted rest
• Maintaining established bedtime and overnight routines
• Providing reassurance and comfort throughout the night

❤️ Neurodivergent Children & Youth / Higher Support Needs

Many families caring for children with higher support needs rarely get a full night’s sleep.

Overnight support may include:
• Support for autistic children and youth
• Support for children and youth with ADHD
• Sensory needs
• Developmental disabilities
• Cognitive impairments
• Children who may wander or require close supervision
• Support during periods of dysregulation
• Maintaining familiar routines
• Providing a calm and predictable overnight environment
• Assisting families experiencing caregiver burnout
• Giving parents an opportunity to rest and recharge

❤️ Adults Living With Disabilities or Chronic Illness

Many adults benefit from overnight support but don’t require hospitalization or long-term care placement.

Support may include:
• Overnight supervision
• Safety monitoring
• Medication administration as prescribed
• Assistance with toileting and personal care needs
• Support for individuals with physical disabilities
• Neurological conditions
• Chronic illness
• Mobility limitations
• Individuals living with cognitive impairments
• Providing reassurance and assistance throughout the night
• Supporting family caregivers who need rest

❤️ Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Acquired Brain Injury & Cognitive Impairment

Overnight care can provide peace of mind when safety is a concern.

Support may include:
• Safety monitoring
• Orientation and reassurance
• Wandering prevention
• Observation and reporting of changes or concerns
• Assistance with routines and personal care
• Supporting families who are providing ongoing care at home

❤️ Seniors & Aging Adults

Many seniors wish to remain in their own homes while receiving support.

Overnight care may include:
• Dementia and memory care support
• Wandering prevention and safety monitoring
• Fall risk monitoring
• Assistance with toileting
• Incontinence care
• Medication administration as prescribed
• Reorientation and reassurance during periods of confusion
• Monitoring for comfort and safety throughout the night
• Providing companionship and a calm overnight presence
• Giving family caregivers an opportunity to sleep

❤️ Palliative & End-of-Life Support

During some of life’s most difficult moments, families shouldn’t have to carry the weight alone.

Support may include:
• Comfort-focused care
• Repositioning and comfort measures
• Monitoring and observation
• Emotional support and presence
• Assistance with personal care needs
• Allowing family members an opportunity to rest while knowing their loved one is not alone

❤️ For Caregivers

Sometimes the person who needs care isn’t the client.

It’s the exhausted parent.
The spouse.
The adult child caring for an aging parent.
The caregiver who hasn’t slept through the night in months.

Overnight support can provide:
• Protected rest
• Reduced caregiver burnout
• Peace of mind
• Time to recover physically and emotionally
• The reassurance that someone is present and attentive throughout the night

No matter what stage of life you’re in, sometimes the greatest gift is simply knowing you don’t have to do it all alone. ❤️

✨ I’m officially on TikTok! ✨

I’m creating a space for caregivers, parents, people living with disabilities, healthcare workers, and anyone navigating the challenges of caring for others while trying to care for themselves too.

We’ll be talking about caregiver burnout, asking for help, overnight support, disability advocacy, parenting, and the realities of life behind the scenes of caregiving.

I’ll still be posting here regularly, but you should see a new video from me soon. 😊

I’d love for you to follow along as this community grows. ❤️

Maybe we’ve gotten a little too comfortable wearing exhaustion as a badge of honour.

As if being constantly tired means we’re working hard enough.
As if rest is something that has to be earned.

Medicine has shown us again and again that rest is essential to our health. But somewhere along the way, many of us learned to feel guilty for needing it.

You don’t have to earn rest.
You’re human. ❤️

And if you need someone to step in so you can get some, I’m here. 😊

Caregiving can be a strange kind of love.

You lose sleep without complaint.

You rearrange your life around someone else’s needs.

You learn routines, medications, appointments, preferences, fears, and comforts.

You become the person everyone relies on.

And somewhere along the way, people stop asking what you need.

So if nobody has told you lately:

✨The work you’re doing matters.

✨The exhaustion you’re feeling is real.

✨You deserve support, too.

If you’re caring for a newborn, a child with higher support needs, an aging parent, a spouse, or a loved one going through a difficult season, support is available.

Sometimes the most important thing you can do is let someone help carry the weight for a little while.

I’m here when you need it. ❤️

Parents often apologize for needing help.

They’ll tell me they’re exhausted. That they haven’t slept properly in weeks. That they’re overwhelmed and running on empty.

And then they’ll say:

“But I know this is what I signed up for.”

I always find that a little heartbreaking.

Because somewhere along the way we’ve convinced parents that needing support means they’re not coping.

That asking for help is something you do only when you’ve reached your breaking point.

But parenting was never meant to be done alone.

For most of human history, there was a village. There were extra hands. There were people who stepped in so parents could rest, recover, and breathe.

Needing support doesn’t mean you’re failing.

It means you’re human.

You don’t have to earn rest.

You don’t have to prove how exhausted you are before accepting help.

Sometimes the strongest thing a parent can do is let someone else carry the load for a little while. ❤️

You are allowed to need a village, too.

And if you ever need one, I’d be honoured to help. ❤️
