Here's a bit of a video that captures some of our FireSmart demonstration, during our open house, concerning the placement of flammable plants in the Immediate zone of a home. Embers from a wildfire can ignite dried/flammable material which can then quickly transfer to a structure.

We had a great and informative open house, which also included a FireSmart demo about flammable plants against a house. We had different siding materials to show how they react to heat and flame. Thanks to all who came out and participated. Ember even made an appearance.

Ever wondered what it’s like to be a firefighter? Now’s your chance to find out! The Clearwater Volunteer Fire Department is welcoming new members. We provide the training, the gear, and a team that feels like family. All you need is a willingness to learn and a heart for your community. Feel free to drop by the hall on a Thursday evening or come by on October 19 for our recruitment intake session. We will have members on hand to answer any questions you may have and show you around the station. We will have a few snacks on hand, as well. Thanks and hope to see you.

Good day. We just wanted to give thanks to all the residents that took the time to leave piles for our chipping event. It is always nice to see folks being proactive when it comes to FireSmarting their properties. Some piles we hauled away and some we chipped and hauled away. If we missed your pile or plan to have piles in the near future feel free to reach out and we will be sure to visit you.

Public reminder that this coming Monday/Tuesday the Clearwater FireSmart program will be conducting a FREE chipping event. We will be coming around town to get rid of yard debris. The current weather is perfect for doing some FireSmart yard cleanup. Call or email to register your property so you do not get missed. Thanks and have a great weekend!

Today, the Clearwater FireSmart crew is assisting a few homeowners who are on their FireSmart journey, when it comes to mitigating flammable confir, within in the Immediate zone ( 0-1.5m), around their home. Here is a quick video highlighting the buildup within said conifer.

We would just like to let folks know that our crew has been performing fuel reduction work between Clearwater Secondary and Park Dr and we will be chipping along Park Dr., today. We will have our truck, trailer, and chipper along Park Dr, so watch for signage and our crews. We would appreciate safe space to work and feel free to give us a wave.
