Good day and happy Monday. Our FireSmart crew has been continuing with FireSmart assessments, education, and some fuel reduction work. We are currently working on a strip or forest between the highschool and Park Drive. Here are a couple in-progress before and after photos. Making progress on reducing the fuel load within the strip of forest.

Welcome home.

On August 24, Bushtruck 2 rolled back into the hall for the first time since July 18 — 37 days on the firelines.

She came home filthy. Dust caked into every seam, mud up the rockers, ash in places we're still finding. But she came home under her own power, and she never let a crew down out there — rough roads, steep ground, long days in dirty conditions, and she kept working. That's about the best report card a truck can get.

Over those five-plus weeks, several crews of CVFD members rotated through deployments, some spending up to 14 days away at a stretch. That means 14 days away from partners, kids, jobs, and their own beds — showing up for other communities the same way we'd hope others would show up for ours.

To every member who put their hand up for a rotation: thank you. And to your families, who carried things at home while you were gone — thank you just as much. You're a big part of why we're able to send that truck out at all.

We also want to recognize the members who stayed home. While crews were out on deployment, you kept Clearwater covered — answering calls, keeping the trucks ready, and making sure fire protection here never slipped. That work doesn't come with a fire camp story to tell afterward, but it's every bit as important, and this department doesn't function without it.

Proud of our department.
