Sumak is an ancient weaving technique with a history going back thousands of years.
Some of the oldest known Sumak fragments were found in Gordion, in Anatolia, dating back to around the 7th century BC. The technique later became part of the rich weaving traditions of Anatolia, the Caucasus, and Iran.
